Afternoon all....
Didn't get chance to post yesterday. DH was home and we had so much to do. Managed to spend £200 in Asda, but I had actually got £225 in my ING savings account for the Christmas food shop so I was very pleased with that, we've got all the bits for our new year party too. We've got an extra four adults for boxing day and the day after and 12 to feed on new years eve....amazing how it adds up.
DD's had their school play yesterday afternoon and then DD1 was wisked off to London to do her bit at BAFTA, she phoned last night to tell us about the posh hotel and the film crew that are following her...she's having a whale of a time!
Working today, one's asleep and one's just gone home poorly, we made christmas candels this morning with some mouldable wax...was good fun. Lunch is mostly in the keyboard...but was a lovely cheese and relish sarnie, tea will be burgers (not HM as i've not had time) in cheese topped rolls (again not HM cos I've not had time).
Stayed up late last night finishing DD2's dragon, it's great - really pleased, just need to wrap all their pressies up now but that's a job for tomorrow in my spare 2 hours...what is it with this time of year????
Tree's up, lights are all up on the front of the house and the quality street are well and truely open!!!
Hope you all have a good one. :rudolf:"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -

Hi
Hugs to eveyone espcially Snowy owl & Ancasta.
I'm having one of those days where I regret getting up! So far I have fallen down the stairs, broken 2 expensive glasses(Tesco Value Pilsner Glasses!!!!) & fallen into :xmastree: ( I haven't even sampled the Xmas spirit yet - perhaps if I had I would be more stable on me pins!!) so now I need to replace the broken decorations :snow_laug . But never mind at least the last of the Xmas pressies I have ordered via the net arrived this morning. So now all I have got to is wrap everything ready for this weekend as this is the last chance for us to deliver everything coz DH is working nights over Xmas & New Year (he's a nurse).
On Friday I have got someone from Welfare Rights coming to see me to help with my appeal for DLA so am keeping my fingers crossed.
Oh well had better go & clean up now!!!Love to save & love a bargain0 -
Hi there!
TooK DS2 to speech therapy today, it's his first appointment since his assesment last December  Since then he had his grommets put in and his speech has improved dramatically. The speech therapist was really pleased with him and said he was more or less average for a 5 year old (almost). I'm so proud of him, because he had chronic glue ear from about 8 months and I was worried about his development that it's SO good to hear that he is doing well! :j
Had an open bag of chips and a fish bit for my lunch, don't know what's for dinner tonight but OH will probably cook as he finished early.
Tonight is DS1's 'winter celebration' evening at school!
Have a good day all!Mortgage-free wannabe!0 -

Thats GREAT NEWS :j What a fantastic xmas bonus!
Today has been spent working out budgets for 2006 and I am in a GREAT BIG MESS. Havent totaled it up but have this sinking feeling that the outgoings will superceed the incomings  So a bitmore number crunching for me to be getting on with.
DH is on the drink in london tonight and again tomorrow so its just me and the kids for a couple of days. Its a shame as it means he misses DD1's (3) first ever nativity play tomorrowand while he doesnt seem too bothered by it I am absolutely gutted.
I've lost 3lbs since starting to reduce my carb intake (monday). Its all that BM's fault you know. I just CANT resist HM bread all warm and heavenly - I was eating nearly a loaf a day on my ownno wonder I'm such a lardy pants.
My WM isplaying up, it doesnt seem to be spinning properly and the clothesare still water logged at the end of the cycle. I've tried cleaning the filter and now have it on a 90 wash with nothing in it but viniger to try and de-gunk it.
Got to dash, I can hear DD2 (1) crying from her cot, poorbaby has a chest infection and needs cuddles.
Chat later,

Hi Everyone,
Feeling a bit  today. I got home from a streesful day at work, to find out that my mum and son were nearly hit by a car. The stupid b****h driving the car was on a mobile, lost control at a roundabout, and nearly hit my mum and my DS 2 yrs. Luckily my mum was able to push my son out of the way in time. She has to give a police statement tomorrow.
Other than that, I'm going to go and shut myself away from the rest of the world and have a relaxing bath, followed by a Baileys.A woman is like a tea bag. You never know how strong she is until she gets into hot water.:D0 -
Hello all
Fairly boring day at work - but did go with people for Christmas Lunch (oops but don't normally spend that much on food at lunch time if any) and a meeting with free cakes (I lead a sad life) didn't even have breakfast as OH didn't get up but he's just doing us some pasta for dinner after eventually washing up
Off to tescos in a bit and need to do a few more Christmas cards tonight - seeing how many I can post off with 2nd class stampsInitial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

:grouphug: to you and your mum and DS powie69. A stiff drink is definately in order. I hope your mum is OK, she might feel more shaky now it is over.
pennypincher- How does your room look now the plasterers have finished??? I know what you mean about rough plasterwork, my boxroom and second bedroom are awful. When I stripped the wallpaper the plaster came with it. We havent had it done as couldnt afford it but it would make a HUGE difference.
Am finished working out a PROPER budget now. Reckon after EVERYTHING including saving towards birthdays/xmas etc and DH keeping his £100 "spending money" (odd that I dont get the same:rolleyes: ) we should have about £103 per month "spare" to pay for unforseen things, lunch on days out, new clothes etc.
PHEW- It was HARD work. Going to make myself a toffee vodka coffee now and chill for a bit before attempting the nightly struggle of getting 3 under 4 into there respective beds :rolleyes:WW Start Weight 18/04/12 = 19st 11lbsWeight today = 17st 6.5lbsLoss to date 32.5lbs!!!0 -
Well I am almost back to normal after my little dice with bronchitis and a virus...... having made some very hard decisions re the car and caravan I have spent most of the week trying to find somewhere to stay in northern France as cheap as possible for 3 weeks so we did not loose the euro tunnel crossing we had booked..... this afternoon I managed it..... I have booked with Haven in a static van on a site 40 miles from Paris for 3 weeks for.......£308, so with the £21 I paid in cash for the crossing that makes a grand total of £329 for 3 weeks holiday..........brill........I have some stuff on ebay which will cover most of the cost, paid the deposit and the cash I get from ebay can go into my ING account and earn some interest until I pay the balance 8 weeks before we go. Will just have to nip and tuck to save the pocket money.
Did the little job for my step son this morning, tackled the ironing this afternoon and have just had supper cooked by other half, home made fish and chips with fruit jelly to follow.......whilst we were out in one of the villages close to us I found a butcher, bought some shin of beef and mince to try and see what his meat is like......have been looking for a decent butcher for ages.
