snowyowl........(((((((((((())))))))))))) to you.you did the right thing but that doesnt make it any easier does it,sorry you've had such a horrid time and so many losses this year.
ancasta.....lovely to see you posting again hun and huge (((((())))))))) to you too.
me an dh wrapped all the presents we already had and wrote all the tags and cards last night......well he wrapped,i wrote as we each hate the other!!!
am soooooooooooo chuffed today as we were still looking for something 'special' for both our dd's for their main present, but struggling really as the things they like were all so expensive.well we walked to the charity shop this morning and got dd1 a talking dora cowgirl doll - in almost new condition-for just £2....and got dd2 a little people farm and a huge bagful of accessories for just £3-again excellent condition!!! came home and the dora doll costs £30 new and the little people stuff in the region of £50!!!!
so we now have their main present for just £5.....i am soooooo chuffed as i hate them to go without and these two things are just what we'd have chosen new......ooohhh i love our charity shop!!!

Ancasta and Snowy: just wanted to add my best wishes.
LearningToSave: What a find!!!!!!!!!!!! So, where do you live?!
I think my Mum thought I had gone slightly insane when I mentioned I had bought a couple of presents for my daughter 2nd hand last year. Until she saw their condition. She is too young to appreciate the difference between a newly boxed item, and a very gently used item. In fact, I know of people who habitually take the packaging off toys before wrapping, so that their children can get to the toys quicker!
This year, as it happens, and largely down to finding MSE, we've managed to pick up some bargains throughout the year, at prices I would have spent on ebay. Plus, on the strength of last years' "obscene" overload (1st grandchild on both sides!), I've cut right back.0 -
Hugs to Snowyowl and Ancasta and thinking of you both.
Another bonus day off work for me following the oil depot fire. Tomorrow I have to go into the temporary office they've set up for us.
I've tried to make the most of my extra holiday - all Ebay and Amazon listings are now done, the washing and ironing is up to date and the Christmas cards are written, so now I'm treating myself to a bit of computer time.
Tea tonight is fish fingers, mash and spaghetti hoops then the big Tesco delivery should be arriving later. Other than milk, fruit and veg, that should get us through Christmas.0 -
snowyowl - :grouphug: Sorry for your loss
ancasta - :grouphug: It happened to me a few years ago, hope you're ok and that you weren't hurt??Mortgage-free wannabe!0 -
Snowy Owl - so sorry to hear about your faithful friend.
Ancasta - sorry to hear the news, I didn't pm Squeaky, not wanting to pry. (I'm not suggesting that all those who did were prying - they've known you longer than I have!) .Hope you are okay and will soon be feeling better.
(((((((HUGS)))))))) to you both.
Bargain Rzl - so glad you found just the right dress ! It looks lovely.
Vastsarah - you sound as if you are feeling better. I'm so glad. You've got so much on your plate! I liked your picture yesterday.
I'm so excited, I was looking for a pair of boots to fit my chunky legs, and Pink-winged directed me to a couple of old links where I found details of a wonderful company that does loads of different calf fittings. I ordered 2 pairs - they're due to be delivered tomorrow (we'll see!) :j :j :j
I haven't had a pair of long boots for 20 years because I could never find a pair that would zip up!
Thanks so much, Pink - in case you missed my thanks on the other thread! :snow_grin
Best wishes to everyone, and commiseration to all those having to produce costumes for their children's plays at a moment's notice. I remember it well!
ivyleaf.
P.S. nearly forgot! Jo - so glad your table finally came and you're so pleased with it. Your home must be looking lovely now, you've worked so hard on it.0 -
I better sit down. As I just had a brain wave.
Needed some really long curtains to cover two doors to stops draughts. Had taken down a pair in the living room and thought nothing of it. Was going to cut them up to fit another window. Then I thought are they long enough.
Yeah they are :j .
Only drawing pinned at the moment. But hope they keep out a few draughts and saved me hunting high and low and probably never finding in a charity shop.
Not been a good day today anyway. As I had a massive strop over some decorating husband is doing at the moment. And also said some very hurtful things to him.
Suppose I better try the kissy kissy approach tonight and hope he still loves me. God I am right b1tch sometimes.
Yours
CalleyHope for everything and expect nothing!!!
