Can my postman do this

I'm a Postie myself & was told by our Manager not to do "favours" for any customer
Should a customer want a parcel left in a safe place then they would have to write to Royal Mail informing them of this and to accept all responsibility for any such item should it go "missing" (so RM don't have to pay out compo):T
It's strange though because i've had quite a few customers asking me to "leave my parcels in the shed postie" but when i tell them of "the new rules" they say "don't bother then"
here's the thing can they not be bothered to write a small note & post it to RM? (no stamp required)
or do they want the parcel left by the postie & if someone pinches it postie's is to blame (reprimanded or even sacked) & they get their compo because it's left unnofficially:rolleyes:
as a Postie i would love to leave parcels for customers it makes life whole lot easier for me & the customer but it's straight forward i can't afford to lose my job (and RM would sack you) & you would hope that a customer would not want you to loose your job either:j
so help out your postie by writing to your local delivery office if you would like parcels left in a safe place or with a neighbour (remember no stamp required) or are you just someone who likes the best of both, leave my parcels but i'm not to blame?:think:0 -

I don't really see it as the postman doing me a favour my postman leaves my parcels on the doorstep and last year we were broken in to after he did this because some one walking past knew we weren't in! Not only did they steal my parcel they stole my tv, video, jewelly and some of my sons birthday presents. So I wouldn't say him leaving the parcel on the door step was doing me a favour.
So as a parcel was left it had to be the postman, because the umpteen couriers would never do that would they!
My experience tells me its couriers who leave on the doorstep not the postie, although i am sure some do. It just winds me up that its always the postie that gets the blame. Trust me, i have seen many couriers doorstep them.
Give the postie a break, chances are its not him/her.
I apologise if you can honestly say it was the postie, but many make the mistake.0 -
today i was expecting a parcel.
it did not turn up.
around 12.30pm a letter was pushed throght the letter box written on the letter was ( two parcels did not fit letter box im returning them back to sorting office) i did not get a card just this handwritten message on the letter.

I'm sure the options are 1. collect from sorting office 2. call sorting office to arrange re-delivery 3. call sorting office to collect form a post office ???
Well thats what's on the card I get.
they charge you to deliver to a post office, and the last time i arranged re-delivery to another address they lost the item, also i wanted my item now not next week'We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time0 -

go to the office as normal
contact the office
or arrange redelivery on the RM site, just add your details as per a normal package0 -
I am amazed at the number of people condoning this tbh..
I am having a long running battle with my local sorting office / post office as my postman seems to think its perfectly acceptable to leaving anything bigger than the letter box on my drive in full view of anyone walking past the house!
I have so far had it happen 4-5 times even after using the formal complaints proceedure. Who knows if people have sent me things which i have never received.
Its wrong unless you are personally friendly with the postie and have given permission.0 -

Not sure where to put this but here goes,we seem to have a postie who can arrive any time between 11am and it has been as late as 5.00pm anyway i ordered some goods which required a signiture so guess what my postie signed for them and posted through my letter box.I thought it was a bit strange but thought no more about it until today when i realised he has noe done this 3 times where goods need to be signed for and he signs himself and posts the goods is he just being helpfull do i raise the matter and where do i stand if i try and say they have never turned up
Where do you stand if you try and claim because the goods didnt turn up - even tough they did!! Hopefully you will get found out and if your employers find out your integrity you too will lose your job, not just the person who tried to help you!!

i once got reprimanded twice on the same day for door stepping,
obviously my gaffer didn't know what the items were,
but 1 was a box of free light bulbs the other a catalogue!
i always remember the area and always card stuff there no matter what it is,
ive even carded free nappy samples if they dont fit through!0
