If your postie is later it is probably because many offices have just endured further change of starting times and rounds, in mine, some who were at the beginning are now at the end, and most were worked out by a pc programme, so they must be right, anagers say so.
Dont be surprised if its well into the afternoon within the next year, RM want an even later start to the day.
Taken from Royal snails website ~We hope you've found the answers you were looking for here. If you have another question, please return to the main Customer Services page.
Otherwise, you can provide more details regarding the delivery of your mail by completing the form on the next page. This will help us give you more specific advice and assistance. Please wait 15 working days (from the due date of delivery) before completing this form as we would not consider an item as lost until 15 working days have elapsed. We allow the 15 working days for items to be returned to the sender if there are any delivery problems.
Postie is later because he delivers to even numbers first then 2- 3 hours later comes back to do the odd numbers , every other postie I have known in the 14 years I've lived here did the deliveries in sequence, Nos. 1, 2 ,3 ,4 etc.

well perhaps all the posties doing it were delivering from their own cars?
so by car you would do a street at a time
however on foot(and my own duty was like this) i would go down one side and continue, then be back on the other side of the street 2 hours later as my duty was a loop so i near ended back where i started
perhaps its done this way due to a walk/office revision, phase 3 lapsings etc
hard to believe but a few things have changed in 14 years
FYI 15 working days is how long before an item is considered lost
RM are ahead of target for next day delivery of 1st class items0 -
I am reminded of a Jack Dee joke along the lines of "If you don't like the Royal Mail service, deliver your own post... see how far you get with your 50p train ticket"
Or something like that, anyway.
I'm not a postie but I know a man who is and he's constantly dealing with complaints, not about him personally, just about Royal mail in general, and at length. It seems to me that a lot of people think postmen are Royal Mail itself, and as first point of contact they often (unfairly) take the brunt.
My friend has recently had shift changes where although he used to start at 6am, now he starts at 8am. Inevitably, his deliveries are later and his customers annoyed but it's not his fault.
By signing for items, the posties are putting their jobs in jeopardy and also leaving themselves open to fraudsters like the OP (despite people saying the original comment could have been taken wrongly, I agree with the general consensus) I find it odd that posties would sign for things and then leave them on the doorstep though, double jeopardy!
In reply to the poster who said their postman complains about having to deliver items, I teach in a college and it's amazing how many staff members complain about being surrounded by students, " I could get so much done if my students would stop bugging me"! I think there are always people like that wherever you work

I'd love my postie to sign for things - to date my parcels have ended up in five different POs across the city, I don't mind for the two that are on bus routes but when parcels get delivered to the three that aren't it's a real hassle (I can't drive as I'm registered blind). How do I sign up for the Safe Place mentioned in this thread? I Googled it but only found information for businesses.0

safeplace is only available to businesses
you place an order, fill in your safeplace details and this is printed on the label along with the address details
most often it is used with the relativly new RM 'tracked' service0 -
As custardy says, the 15 days is not how long it takes for first class, as it clearly reads, its before you report lost items.Taken from Royal snails website ~

Again with the postie, for safety reasons as well as logistical, you do one side at a time now, and it is quiker than crossing roads.0
