he seems more worried about the aspect of money and loosing the Carers Allowance he receives for caring for his wife whos in receipt of DLA...its irrelavant wether you will have more money with DLA or Carers Allowance but more to the point that you can no longer be your wifes carer if you need someone to suicide watch you and you are so ill....you need to inform the inland revenue you can no longer care for her and you will need to get yourself sorted out.
sorry if my advice isnt tactful enough.....;-):hello:Time2start a new year diet for a new me:j0 -

if your going to AA i would suggest getting stuck right into the 12 steps, dont think meetings alone are enough, we alcoholics need to change the thinking we have to recover, we need to be ok when we're not in meetings too. i have seen peopel who felt the same you do recover and not think about killing themselves anymore.
you may see "easy does it" on the wall i look at that as easy on beating ourself up. not easy does the steps. give yourself a running chance and crack on mate, your worth the life on the other side, and hopefully you hear people talking about how great it is not to drink or want to, then there is ll the other negitive thinking we recover from. it is brill mate. PM if you wanna chat or search "new alcohol" here theres a whole thread for talking about alcohol issuse, not related to money. You can request a home visit to assist in the completion of the formscall 08457 12 34 56, make the request and a trained visiting officer should come to see you. They'll make sure that all the relevant details are included in your application, perhaps things you might not have considered important. They should also be able to advise you on the impact (if any) on other benefits in payment.
As for asking people on here to speculate on whether you'd be awarded DLA, in my experience, is pretty much pointless. I've filled in AA & DLA forms for people, some of whom I was certain would be entitled and others where my personal opinion was they didn't have a cat in hell's chance, but I'm not allowed to let my personal opinion enter into it. If the customer wants to apply, I'm allowed to give general advice but the decision is theirs whether to apply or not. Anyway, some of the people who I thought wouldn't get it, got it first time (and in some cases got the highest rate possible), and some of the ones I thought were definitely going to get it, I've had to fight tooth and nail to get it for them.
It is completely up to the Decision Maker, so my only advice is that you get help to fill in the form, answer all the relevant questions in as much details as possible, as the Decision Maker is not a medical professional and will need a clear picture of how your conditions affect you - remember, the Decision Maker doesn't get to meet you. If the Decision Maker turns you down, you can request that your claim be reconsidered by another Decision Maker (must be requested within 1 month of the original decision). If still not successful, you can appeal (again this must be requested within one month of the 2nd decision)Hope this is of some helpCharlotte0 -
Can I just respectfully remind folk that CAB is in the majority manned by volunteers who undergo a great deal of training to give free advice if they are able. If by chance they are unable to help, they will point you in the right direction.
The CAB is a charity and since there is not much we get free in life, please be grateful to those people who generously donate their wealth of expertise perhaps from a former job and undergo hours of training.

PS Can we not try and help instead of making it into a slanging match????Regards
