I agree and think the same, but did not have the bottle to say it, so well done to you. The persons name makes me wonder too.0 -

If you read dingdongbells first post made on another thread you will realise that he is genuine.
Being 'fat' or being an 'alcoholic' would not preclude him from either applying for, or being granted DLA
Asthma is a condition which affects walking - I know people with asthma whom get DLA mobility and care.
DDB give it a go, as I said before they can only say no so what have you got to lose?0 -
Have a look at www.benefitsandwork.co.uk - - -lots of advice from others who are or have been in exactly the same positions.0

Posters such as this make me angry, this is self inflicting,I know what I want to say and Im sure I will be shot down in flames for saying this but basically im trying to get DLA for my son who has an ASD,he was born with this and cannot help the way he is,he has been turned down for DLA yet someone whos overweight could get DLA and most of the problems ie asthma, depression,no mobility etc stem from this fact of being overweight, perhaps if people like this went on a strict diet to get their BMI down then all the other ailments would dissapear its a bit like a jigsaw puzzle, unfortunately other people arnt so lucky and can learn to live with their disabilities but not cure them,my son would love that chance I just wish people such as this poster could realise exactly just that, they can do something about their problem as it is self inflicted and to put it in a nutshell will not get better unless they loose weight and stop eating and increase their excersise.:hello:Time2start a new year diet for a new me:j0

if you can walk 10 metres without stopping you'll not be entitled to the mobility allowance.
I don't think you will be entitled to the mobility but may be entitled to care component.
I`m sorry but that simply isnt true what you say about 10 metres,it depends on what your problems are and how they affect you, nothing to do with any set distance0 -

The only advice I can offer this op is stop wasting everyones time and I like others on here are under the impression this is either a wind up or if real then my advice would be exactly as I have put further up,I know of a person like this who is about 25 stone and spent recently everyday in hospital for different things one day was for her diabetes bought on by her obesity and the second day another appointment for her asthma and so forth....shes after one of those elecric wheelchairs, she cannot walk because she is simply is to fat and sits at home eating all day, while they continue to give her DLA she will continue to eat and make her problems worse so as to sustain her condition, yet there are many carers out there who fight for DLA for their offspring or themselves and have genuine disabilities not disabilities bought on by themselves.
Yes I did appeal for my sons DLA.:hello:Time2start a new year diet for a new me:j0 -
I agree that people should not get DLA because of problems stemming from being fat the same as i don't think people should get it for being a drug addict or alcholohic but they can get it fact. Where do you draw the line. A person that suffers from prader-willi syndrome can get DLA paid direct to them and so it enables them to eat themselves to death, as as the above conditions. The goverment is at fault here not the people applying and getting it.0

But isn't it possible that the OP may have a medical reason as to why they are overweight that they did not disclose due to further ridicule and judgement? It may be a long shot, but it may also be a possible reason.
If their asthma is particularly bad then maybe they are going to find most exercise hard, and maybe painful? I know nothing about asthma in particular, but my friend has it and told me that in some cases exercise can be near impossible.
Just maybe something to think about.
