Having recently completed a dla form I wouldn't suggest doing it without professional help from CAB, welfare rights advisor or maybe get advice from a mental health charity such as MIND.
Best of luck, hope things start to look up for you.

you're not this persons doctor, evidently, so why comment on their medication?! It's rude and unjust. You may think that it's strange that the doctor has put the OP on that medication, but evidently the doctor has had a justifiable reason for doing so. If anything, you're looking for an argument or for the OP to doubt themselves and their doctor.

Maybe it's "very strange" tha you have such an opinion on other peoples medication and medical background...

Quite the opposite in fact. Sounds like you are looking for an argument. I was offering practical advice as well as the see what you can claim advice.

And as per you saying that you don't think he will be entitled to the mobility component but may be entitled to the care - work for the area that makes decisions on DLA do we?

Some would say rude and unjust as it could give the OP some hope.

My experience of the cab office was i took the DLA forms to them, told them the situation with my youngest son( i have two disabled) they truned round and said that they didn't think he would qualify so she has a right to refuse to do it. So i asked his hospital social worker who helped me fill it in, we got higher rate care(hes too young for mobility) within 3 weeks of sending the form in, no queries, appeals etc. So just in case they refuse apply anyhow.

With my ds2 we had to appeal twice, we then got middle rate care and are now appealing against the mobility decision which has been ongoing now for over 6 months.

So some are quick and easy some are long winded, but they are quite difficult the forms - we did one our selves and i did a couple of pages a day just to make sure i got everything right - and photocopy it and keep a copy before you send it in.

I'm giving my opinion which is what is being asked and unfortunately I know a fair bit about DLA.

You're making judgement on the OPs medication and doctor. How is that giving practical advice?
If my typing is pants or I seem partcuarly blunt, please excuse me, it physically hurts to type. :wall: If I seem a bit random and don't make a lot of sense, it may have something to do with the voice recognition software that I'm using!
  • I completed my own DLA form online without help.

I got DLA both components first time with no medical.

I have just repeated the exercise and have been granted it again for two years.

The CAB have no right to decide whether any one should or should not apply, they simply help to fill in the forms where necessary.

The DLA form is quite straightforward. Tell the truth, answer all the questions in all the sections.
  • I would agree with foxxymynx that we shouldn't be commenting on the op's medication because we are not her gp and we do not have the full facts and we are not qualified to comment on it. Just imagine the op panics and does not take their medication, which could make them worse.

Mspig, each CAB has their own procedure inhouse, in other words my bureau would have not turned you down as I am sure other wouldn't have. You should maybe lodge a complaint to the bureau manager to prevent it happening to others.

I agree but there are some "buzz words" for certain conditions that can help :rotfl:

CAB or welfare rights (as well as a few other places) are usually happy to help you fill out forms and help with any appeals, but I don't know the proceedures of CAB tbh, just Weflare rights (ie, if they believe it would be pointless, would they help?)

Why is it that a simple request for information and help and subsequent opinions offered in good faith manages to turn into a falling out? Do we need to complicate this lady's health problems by having her read through us snapping at each other?

Be nice to each other. We are need each other or we wouldn't be here xx

funny thing is that is was the cab office at the hospital he was in at the time(hes still under the hospital - and will be for life), never thought about complaining, but she did make me feel like i wasen't entitled to it, and shouldn't apply.

I really can't be arsed arguing with you and for what it's worth I think this is a wind up as there are too many contraversial things here (fat alcoholic looking for benefits) and for a new poster they seemed to know exactly what to put down....but if it is true then I wouldn't want this to get moved to DT (where they would be alot more harsher than me) so I'll just read and see how this thread pans out;)
