Sausage-meat mixed with an equal quantity of mince plus a chopped, fried onion, roll into meat balls and bake in the oven. Serve with thinly sliced cucumber which has been sprinkled with salt and drained, then mixed with creme fraiche and you have Klopsies with Miseria - very Polish! My MIL is Polish and it's one of our regular dishes... completely gorgeous. Sometimes we add mashed potato and gravy, which is even more delish (though it sounds odd, I know) but heavier on the calorie count.

    Cheesey sausage balls

Make up a batch of scone dough but don't add the milk or any other liquid (rub in 2 oz butter with 8 oz self-raising flour and 1 tsp baking powder).

Mix this with 1 lb sausagemeat and 3-4 handfuls of grated cheese.

Add herbs and spices if you like.

Shape into walnut sized balls and bake on a baking tray for 25mins at 180 c

Yummy and great for parties or lunchboxes.

I make a dish of sausagemeat stuffing to serve with roast chicken. It makes the chicken go further and tastes lovely cold, too.

Peel and cook the equivalent weight of potato, mash without butter.
    Finely chop 1 med onion.
Mix sausagemeat, mashed potato and chopped onion with 1tsp dried mixed herbs and black pepper.
Cook in a shallow dish or casserole, gas mark 5/6 for approx 1 hr, until golden brown. Serve hot or cold with chicken or turkey.

Picked up some packs of frozen sausagemeat in Tesco a coupld of weeks ago for 0.39p but now strugling to decide what to do with it. I am defrosting it now to make something tonight.

Was planning to make sausage rolls but worried that I'll end up with more than we can eat (only 2 of us!) and not sure that I can freeze them as the meat has already been frozen. Or has anyone got any other recipe suggestions?

    Thanks

Hi, there  We have a long thread on sausagemeat - take a look at that, and I'll merge it with this thread later.

If you cook the meat that was previously frozen, you can then freeze the sausage rolls.

My dd's love this - mix with one egg, a sqeeze of tomato paste, a chopped onion and some dried herbs if you want. Cook in a loaf tin in the oven or fry gently in the shape of burgers. Serve with mash/chips and baked beans/peas. Leftovers very good in sandwich next day!

I have a receipe for sausage and pasta in mustard creme fraiche. I think they actually tell you to scrape out the sausagemeat out, brown it and then bung it with cooked pasta mixed with mustard and creme fraiche. I normally add some steamed broccoli and onion. V tasty so I guess it could work with your sausagemeat if you rolled it into little meatballs.
