  • Just had a letter from HM revenue and Customs to say that we are not entitled to child tax refund for 02/03 as my husband was paying the higher rate of tax. I thought that this payment was NOT means tested, but I guess I was wrong.

I shouldn't be too suprised really.

    There goes my spending spree!
  • still waiting and we sent our form to them back in nov!
  • Hi, a friend of mine who called the tax office was told that cheques would be sent out in April, hope this helps. Also I only checked if I was entitled on Friday the 30th, downloaded the form and posted it the same day do you think it will have been received in time? I'm wondering because the 31st was a Saturday?
    Carpe Diem

Bet your husband is delighted with his tax repayment.
  • yep!!!he is,put in to his account and gonna leave it there till we decide what to do with it!
  • Just got a letter back saying that we don't get anything.
They say it was already included in our tax code, unfortunately I only kept the last 4 years but when checking the bank for that year there wasn't any change in his wages!!
Suppose I will have to take their word for it.
    Nevermind.
Good luck joanne_77 on your pending spending spree!! If your stuck what to do then let me know!!!!!!!
  • i have been keeping my eye on this thread but it my first post.
my tax office told me i would get the 1040 because my daughter was born in july 2002. i rang 3 times to check, i have received my cheque today and its for £117.99, im not happy. i only earned 5695 for the year so i was £300 off getting the full £1040. goes to show you cant trust what the tax office tells you.

suppose its better than nothing. i sent my form off just before xmas.

    good luck everyone
