I put a claim in anyway, but hubby would have paid higher rate of tax. Surely if this is an allowance though, you would still be entitled to it as it was not given in the first place? How long do they take?0

Back then I was still in a relationship with my Son's Dad, I was only working part-time (didn't earn enough to pay tax) but my Ex was working full-time. I'm not sure whether this would mean I could claim or not? I don't want to get myself in to any trouble, I would think my Ex has already put a claim in.

I think that about 90% of people, who were entitled at the time, got this tax relief, they have just forgotten about it or do not understand that this is the same thing. I remember my tax code being something like 704H and hardly paying any tax.
If you get your P60 out for the year ending 2003 & get your partner (if you had one) to get theirs out too, you will be able to see from the tax codes if one of you received it at the time. It will be higher than subsequent years and end in H or T. The chances are you did.0 -
It looks like my husband has already been paid it after we seperated and neither I or our daughter eever saw a penny of it ! Nor does he ever contribute a penny !!!

Had my reply to say that it was paid out through my husbands pay tax. Not surprise there then get any nice surprises through the post on a grey and dull january ( lol )
Anyway, it was definately worth a try:A Tomorrow's just another day - keep smiling0 -
whoflare your husband was not entitled to claim it unless your daughter was living with him in the 2002/2003 tax year!0

if you still hold payslips ir a p60 from 02-03 then you can normaly tell if you have already recived the relief of childrens tax credit as your tax code will end in either a H or T and if no other reliefes were claimed in 02-03 usually your tax code was 702H
Also all forms from www.hmrc.gov.uk must be sent back to your local tax office there is no set office.
also i know alot of people have been asking but this will not affect your current tax credit claim for working tax or child tax as this a total diffrent thing childrens tax credit was before tax credits were introduced.
Childrens tax credit was an income tax relief introduced 6 april 2002 it was avalible for two years 2001-2002 2002-2003. it was then replaced by the chils element of the new payable tax credits from the 6 april 2003.0 -
So we are on 702H does that mean we have had it?0
