i rang them yesterday and spoke to a very helpful man. He stated that they where inundated with the response and had about 25000 forms received into the office. Advised me to call back next week to make sure it is on my account. So fingers crossed.

    I dont understand this.
According to the Inland Revenue notes I've downloaded from the link it says that tax credit began in 2001 so why would people have not claimed for 2002/2003?
Have downloaded the form anyway. Thanks for the info.

I phoned my local tax office (Bedford) about this and the woman told me to download the form CTC 11 from the HMRC website.

    Simple as that!

The notes on this form say that it is means tested in that those who were higher rate tax payers lose £1 per £15 of income over the 40% threshold, so not strictly applicable to everyone with children that meet the earlier mentioned criteria.

    Good luck to those claiming
CHAPS requested 10 Oct, left KE 15 Oct, finally arrived 18.00, 4th Nov :D
  • Hi there - I've just registered to this site largely because of this thread. I have downloaded the relevant forms from the IR site and will post them this pm. However on another matter what are the rules on claiming backdated Working Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit. Does the 6 years and 6 months rule apply to every entitlement. The reason why I ask is that I was completely unaware that I qualified until last year. I subsequently missed 2 or 3 years of entitlement. Can anyone advise. Thanks alot. PrioryBelles

No, it doesn't apply to every entitlement.

The claim you are in the process of making is a tax relief (Children's Tax Credit) and you have 5 years and 10 months following the end of the tax year (April 2003) to make the claim. This applies to all tax claims.

It's not related to the Child/Working Tax Credit that you've only just found out about.
  • Boo hoo - after reading this lovely thread very late last night i went to bed all excited at the prospect of possibly getting £500 and deciding I would put it towards a mega CC debt to make a dint in it. Up this morning and straight on line to get the form and then check my tax code.....................sadly it looks like i've already had it in my pay as my tax code for 2002-03 was 702H!! :( Never mind at least I got it at some point just wasn't aware of it.

Good luck to all of you out there currently claiming and mega thanks for bringing this to our attention. xx
  • It says if you have a child born between april 2002 and 2003 you would get more, so on the form would I put there date of birth or the oldest childs.

It states on the notes to complete the form to put the date of birth of the youngest child.
