Direct Debits are not affected and it should be ok to make an online payment but if it didn't work the first time I'd not not repeat it .If you have online banking with your own bank then you might prefer to set up a payment arrangement and make the payment that way .
thanks for the suggestion, i may well do that

Again it's not in this morning.
  • I got a phonecall last night from a very nice manager from Nottingham called Zoe, she was extremely sympathetic and refunded all my postage costs and gave me £25 as a goodwill gesture. She told me that the money would be in my account by 12 noon today and, on checking this morning it is!

F_T_Buyer, she did mention that 75% of customers would receive their money today, and they were working through the night on the remaining 25% so fingers crossed you shouldn't be waiting too much longer.
  • Also, one other thing I forgot to add, I told Zoe how disappointed I had been with the call centre, and gave her a list of things I wanted to complain about. She said they have 2 call centres, 1 based in Manilla and the other in India, but if you ever want to be put through to Nottingham, ask the call centre to put you through to extension 4114.

and i bet after this with the costs of goodwill gestures and paying hsbc more money to get it sorted the interest rates will be increased so they can recoup the costs!

I would be very angry if I only got £50 as compensation. I'm looking for around £200, basically in-line with what they would charge us (see previous post about this).
