  • Hi all

I have just got a Capital one card with £200 limit.

I will use the card but will not pay it off all the time if I want a credit limit increase.

I will spend say £80-£120, but pay of 90% of it one month and the rest the next month. You only pay a small amount of interest, but that's if you want an increase later on.

Only an idea if I want a limit increase. Nice to have a £1,000 limit one day, but on a 34.9% card you just have to be careful and still not that bad an APR when you work it all out.
They have to make money at the end of the day.

If you pay it off all the time, you are not finnancaly attractive to them any more. So why increase some ones limit.

had capital one credit card for almost two years now, always made regular payments and never late. started off on £100 limit (pointless) and amazingly...... it hasnt moved, still at £100. think a letter to them from me may be appearing on their doorstep soon to close the account

You have also got to remember yes its good paying them on time every month, but you have to make sure your credit file on the rest of your accounts are improving to,as capital one will always check your experian credit report first b4 applying a credit limit increase..
  • I started off at £200 and got it increased to £500 3 months later. Nothing since (year or two). Will probably drop it soon - already cut the card up and it should be paid off in the next month....or next week if I don't spend too much in the meantime.

Hi I was wondering if anyone could help me. I applied for a capital one classic card online on the 26/07/10. I wasn't given an instant decision and was told id be contacted me 7-10 days. I've received a credit agreement through the post to sign and return does this mean i've been accepted or could i still be declined.

My credit file is okay except for one CCJ from 2005 for the amount of £1000.00 just over. Plus i dont have any other credit except for my mobile phone.

Any assistance would be of help thanks.

IVE POSTED THIS BEFORE ELSEWHERE BUT NEVER HAD A RESPONSE REALLY SO PLEASE ACCEPT MY APOLOGIES.

I have had two increases on the card. After 4 months and after 12 months. Starting limit was £1000. This then went to £1500 then £1800.

If they sent you the agreement then its more likely than not that you have been accepted.

Take no notice of this increase on fourth statement thing.

You want an increase stay close to your credit limit for 6 months then they may increase it for you.
