I've been reading this thread with interest for over a week.
This is my experience so far of Capital One. For the last couple of months their eligibility checker has been telling me that my score is too low, so they can't offer me a card. This was definitely the case last week Monday (10 July).
My credit file was updated that day with positive history showing two new card accounts and payment history for other accounts. I tried the checker again on the Tuesday (11 June) and I was shocked when it said that I was 100% guaranteed a Classic Card with a £200 limit, if I paid by direct debit. I put them to the test and did the full application. It was accepted! HOWEVER, I also received an email saying that they had to do some checks. As I'd applied after close of business in the evening, I decided to call them the next day (12 July) and check my application status.
The rep I spoke to said that application had indeed been successful. I also received an email that day confirming my successful application. It told me that the pin would arrive by 18 July and the card by 20 July. The pin actually arrived on 13 July, 2 days after my application! I'm hoping the card will be waiting for me at home today.
I will post my limit increases (or lack thereof), after my 4th statement or 6th, whatever the case may be. The limit is fine - I wanted it for helping to rebuild my credit. I've already been accepted for a Nuba All Rounder credit card (by MBNA) with a £1500 limit, last month and Aqua Reward card with £300 limit (and shocking APR).
I'm slowly rebuilding my credit after struggling to stay self employed for over 6 years, health and family issues, all if which impacted my finances. I now have a good job with a good salary and benefits, so things are looking up.
Good luck to everyone on their journey and thanks to all who have contributed to this thread including the OP.0 -
No sooner had I hit send, I received two emails from Cap One with my online account username and the other with the temporary password. I'm impressed.
I'm a former customer, so haven't always been impressed by them!0
