buyer asking for my supplier details

i have received an email from a buyer who purchased an item from me 2 weeks ago, he has already left me positive feedback but he now says there is a fault and for this reason he does not think it is genuine, i have assured him that it is genuine and purchased from a reputable retailer/authorised reseller but he is now asking for my supplier and invoice details so that he can "cross reference them with the manufacturer"?
i want this issue resolved and would like to give him the details for this reason, but also i don't want to give away my supplier details for obvious reasons and i'd also prefer if he didn't find out how much the item cost.
can i just tell him to contact the manufacturer regarding the 'fault'? i know that the item is genuine so i am not worried about that.

i told him that i am happy for him to contact the manufacturer as i have no concerns regarding the authenticity of the item, but i did not want to forward my supplier details for obvious reasons. He has now said he needs the supplier details to confirm their credentials with the manufacturer.
He also has decided to contact my other customers that i have sold the same item to and ask if they have had any similar problems. so he's basically going to be telling everyone that he thinks they are fake and i can see this is going to cause me problems.
I also believe this is against ebay rules as he is interfering with other peoples business!

Hi,
Could you say what the fault is?
As far as your previous buyers are concerned there is little that you can do.
would they have been likely to buy again. I.E. is it a 'one off' purchase or a repeat purchase?"Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0 -

he thinks the item has worn more quickly than it should have done and wants to take this up with the manufacturer. but he also wants my supplier details to confirm that they are authorised resellers.
i have told him he can send photos or even the item to the manufacturer and they will confirm that it is genuine.
i am about to tell him that i am happy for ebay, paypal, trading standards and/or police to see the invoices from my supplier to confirm they are reputable etc but i am not happy to forward my supplier details to my customers.
edited to add - it is possible my previous buyers may have wanted to purchase again but most people normally just buy one. i am more concerned about my previous customers emailing me in droves asking for refunds, claiming item is fake, paypal disputes etc, i just dont want the hassle! especially from people who may not have left feedback yet!0 -

It doesn't matter what the mark up is, if the customer has chosen to buy something off a person on ebay rather than shop around to see how much it is elsewhere that is their problem not the sellers.
I have paid over the odds before from ebay as 1/ needed something quick and only had pp funds to pay for it and didn't want to wait for it to go into my bank and 2/ where I don't live near the shop that sells it and the shop doesn't offer online sales.
OP - I think you have been very polite in your responses to him and have said that everyone else can see the details if they wish - I don't think it is fair to ask you for the details and if I ever bought something from Ebay I wasn't happy with, I would not dream of asking the seller where they purchased it from. I would contact ebay live help and advise them that he is hassling you for the details and also contacting your other customers which I do not think he is allowed to do .
Good luck and I hope you get it sorted.x0 -
i am selling the items at below rrp actually, so no one is being ripped off and i am not worried about being 'found out' as i have done nothing wrong. i have found a cheap supplier of genuine items that i can sell for more than i paid, but still less than rrp.0

Then in that case what have you got to hide?
Other than the fact you may not be authorised to resell the product and the manufacturer will wash their hands of any warranty.0 -
