Changing from Pipex to sky broadband? Frankly terrified./MAC code.

Just put my number into sky and it says I can get max 5mb ,thats the 8mb package
I assume the Sky website specifically advised you could apply for their Sky Base(£0), Mid (£5) or Max (£10) packages ? (ie. you were not offered the more expensive Sky connect package)
I guess you are staying with Pipex Homecall for your phone service for the moment.
I'm surprised you were able to request a MAC as their Cancellations dept is only open Mon-Fri 9-5.... It could be you spoke to someone in Customer Care perhaps?
I recall my relative rang them last Friday around 6.40pm for a different reason and was told the dept was closed for the day.0 -

What is your problem.
At 6.47 .When I said I " just" rang them,it was a general word. I had, cooked tea and ate it before I posted.
Would you like the exact time next time.:rolleyes:0 -
Thanks carly.
The reason I have been so hesitant in doing this is because I wanted to get all the facts before I even approached them.As someone has posted a link to the email of the CEO,I am going to send her all my details in an email including my account number ,reference number and details of who took my cancellation,as back up,asking her to forward it to the relevant department. If any bailiffs etc contact me,I would forward them the email as proof.
Sometimes when companies wont give anything more than a first name,I ask for their staff number.
I will probably be taking the whole package over to sky, broadband and phone as I make a lot of use of their free geographical calls package to call my daughter,it keeps her phone bill down too.0 -
Have you checked with Sky?
Stick your phone number in here:-

Did we ever establish what service you were paying for with Pipex, 2mb, 8mb or what? That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Yes only paid for half a megabite, had that package about 4 years (I wasn't an mse er then!)0

.....and the result from the postcode check??That gum you like is coming back in style.0

Just put in my postcode-it says there is a good indication, with a star next to that, that broadband is available. It says up to 8mb and it also says thats based on not having an active bt line, obviously we have one.
If it seems like I am dithering, its just that I am not in a massive hurry and my daughter expecting a baby any day now ,we have a very intermittent mobile signal here, and didn't want to be without a service at the moment.0 -

Please accept my apologies. My comments were not intended to be offensive in any way.
I was just curious as to whether Pipex had started to deal with MAC requests outside their usual 9-5 hours hence the earlier question. Clearly you have confirmed there is no change in their opening hours.
btw, note that if you are not on a Sky LLU exchange, their only available broadband package is called 'Sky Connect'. I think that costs about £17 pcm. Try entering the name of your telephone exchange at www.samknows.com and see if 'Sky/Easynet' is present under the column 'LLU operator presence'.

Ok,thanks.
Have input my postcode it says no llu. adsl and adsl max enabled in 2006.0 -
If samknows reported there are no other LLU operators on your telephone exchange, it looks like you have a bog standard BT IPstream 512kb broadband connection through Pipex. (ie. never been Tiscali-ed earlier this year)
Your alternative ISP options are very limited though to BT IPstream providers.
imho, Sky 'Connect' is probably still the best value package available to you for BT IPstream connections, unless you choose to stay with Pipex ("better the devil you know...." as they say)0
