Changing from Pipex to sky broadband? Frankly terrified./MAC code.

OH just rang me to say they wont give us any cheaper rate and are trying to say we can't get the faster broadband in this area.
So much for all the spiel they gave him last night.
Call up o2 broadband or Sky and ask them what speed you can get. o2 bb and Sky use the same technology ADSL2+ as opposed to ADSL (used by Tiscali, Pipex). I was told by Pipex, I'd get 6.5MBPS. Called up o2, they told me on ADSL2+ I can get 24Megs. I am getting 10Megs. A big difference from 24 to 10 but still a hell lot better better than 6.5MBPS!0 -
It's because I always dealt with all the problems,he never spoke to them himself,he probably thinks I am exaggerating.I know he would blow a gasket if he had to put up with what I had.
You are exactly right what you say will happen.
He is somewhat of an optimist!!0 -
He likes to see the good in people!!
here though this is not necessarily appropriate.Just spoke to someone on another thread who used to work for them.0 -

Awww, that's good. But you're right, not appropriate here.
Just spoke to someone on another thread who used to work for them.
Did they offer you any good advice? I wonder if they left because they couldn't bare reading off a sheet of paper everyday.

If it's any help, when I called up, I took the name of the agent, Asked for the MAC code and was persistent on what the case would be should I not receive it in five days. She said I can get it on the phone. Then I asked what happens after the MAC code, do I have to do anything or am I in a contract? She said no to both and that use of MAC code is automatic cancellation of account and that only if I don't use the MAC I stay with them. I also asked if I have to pay anything - she said no as I was out of my contract.
If I were you, I'd also record the convo and tell them at the end of the convo that the convo has been recorded so you hope to receive the MAC code in 5 days. (I've recorded some of my convos with other agents who work at Pipex).

There's one problem when it comes to their so-called 'automatic cancellation'.
Pipex often don't know you have actually used the MAC !
As a consequence, they don't cancel your account and they continue to invoice and debit you each month eventhough you have already migrated away.....
They are dependent on OpenReach to provide them with confirmation of your successful migration to another ISP. It is unclear who is at fault here. No doubt Pipex will blame OpenReach, OpenReach will say they provide the data to Pipex....0 -

Hahahaha! What do Pipex actually know? Call their customer services, they know nothing at all. Incompetent bunch of company. I'm suprised that such a company is allowed to even run a business after all these problems are well known common problems! As a consequence, they don't cancel your account and they continue to invoice and debit you each month eventhough you have already migrated away.....
Yupp, I can see that pretty evident on my credit card. I just hope to see it refunded soon.0 -
If your on Pipex formally Homecall you might of had your phone
line ported to Pipex as-well, do you still pay line rental to
BT?
If not things will be more complicated and will involve some down time
of the broadband while your line is moved back to BT0
