  • I have just had a phone call from a Joan from Dell, the same office as Gillian (management) and I asked if the TV had to be a Dell and she said no as they dont expect anyone to get an exact same model as even she wants one and cant get one.

So any TV is ok just send in your receipt. I expect it does have to be a LCD TV and a 26".

I am waiting in today for a refurb to be delivered and if its fine then I get a £75 refund , if its not fine then i get the chance to buy another TV as above.

BTW I emailed everyone on the Dell list further down this post and since then have been getting all kinds of calls from Dell making sure everything is going to plan.
  • received my refurb a rev. A05 and guess what its still hissing, plus the picutre isnt as sharp as the other one. Well what do I expect, it is second hand isnt it?

Here's the email I've just had from gillian:
    blah blah blah then
However, If you can source a TV from elsewhere, Dell will agree, instead of the voucher, to cover the difference in price of the TV of up to £150.00. We believe this is fair and understand that the TVs can be purchased elsewhere at price range which would fall into this price category. I would need to see a copy of a receipt before I would arrange a refund for this. The TV does not have to be Dell, as long it is of similar specification.

So whats the best 26" lcd that can be had for ~ £510 (esp if there's an ongoing prob with hissing w2600s) any ideas??
  • I've just received the 'Any 26" LCD TV' mail as well with the same wording.
How about hanging on for Jan. Sales and getting a top brand IDTV that's now c. £700 for hopefully c. £550 less £150 from Dell....

I've seen a few people mention that after 30 days then Dell are done with you (some people were claiming that they were putting people off by ignoring emails etc and hoping to get past that mark earlier in the thread) but I'm not sure what it relates to or why after 30 days they would be exempt from dealing with it.

I still think it'd be quite difficult to get one with all the connections the Dell has as well as being HDTV ready etc in the sales, but if the '30 days' situation isn't applicable then I don't see any harm in waiting.

Hopefully someone can clear the '30 day' claims up.

As long as you can prove contact was attempted to Dell I think the whole "Refurb exchange only after X days" can be thrown out of the window.

    Not sure though
  • Quick outline of my situation:

    New TV faulty
    Refurb damaged
Refurb damaged & broken (no sound)

So I enquired about this £150 if I went and got one elsewhere and they point blank denied it was happening. This is on the phone to customer service.

So I've e-mailed Gillian Larkin but she's out of the office today.

Basically I want to go and buy a dell 2600 today for £502 from Scan so I have a working TV for Xmas and have Dell refund my £363 plus pay the £139 difference

Is that what people are getting offered by Gillian and her office? Anyone I can get to today? A phone number for Gillians office? Or does someone know Joans e-mail?

    Thankyou

Dell CS are phoning back this morning I'd like to have something to tell them. As it stands they're just offering me ANOTHER refurb

just out of interest, what was the shipping status when the tv was delivered?

Mine is supposed to be here today according to the citylink delivery date, but the tracking only says it's arrived at the delivery branch, it doesn't say anything about being out for delivery?

Jools07: I was told I could buy it from somewhere else and a maximum of 150 would be put towards the difference and to get back to her when I had decided what to do. So I did and that was pretty much it.
Personally I don't think all the emailing and confirming needs to be done before ordering, but I wouldn't want to risk it and you situation is slightly different than others that have used the option. I'm sorry I can't really help any more or advise other people. Gillian is Senior Executive of EMEA Escalations, so those are the people you want to talk to if you can over the phone. Good luck.

    Thanks for the help

Is there a phone number available for that office?

And I could do with an e-mail that can respond to me today. Someone mentioned Joan in the same office

ps. is my situation different in that I've paid dell £363 already? ie. If I go out and buy one for £502 today I'll need them to refund me my original £363 AND cover the £139 difference for me to be getting the TV at the equivelent of £363 from Scan

I don't have any phone number for the office or more info than that I'm afraid. I searched the post (there is a search function just below where it says 'welcome xxxx' above the top of the thread) for a 'Joan' but nothing came up.

Yea, I don't see any reason why you couldn't get the TV from scan, but seeing as you are in a different position and already have one TV from dell and have been in touch with them regarding returns, then personally I'd want to double check before ordering.

According to a few posts back, this is the number for

    "Valerie Greene
    EMEA Customer Relations Executive
    Executive Support Team
    0870 907 5193"

There are some other numbers in previous posts, but I'm busy at the moment so can't go through them all right now.

On a side note, if you wern't already aware there is an alternative number for Dell customer services that isn't 0870 and won't cost you a fortune. You can look it up at https://www.saynoto0870.com which also has numbers to avoid a ton of other companies 0870 numbers :)
