26" LCD TV - HD Ready £378 delivered! (merged) [CLOSED]

Options
ok, ok so the TV police will shriek with horror when they see its a Dell but do your homework and look at some the reviews this beast gets. . .

http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/lcd_w2600?c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&l=en&s=dhs

It was originally somewhere in the £900 quid bracket.

Beware though - there is some issue with the website. When you try to order, the price jumps up to around £500. Call them directly and the price is good. . .

This is soo annoying. I paid the £298 price a few weeks ago. However Dell did knock £30 off when i called to moan about something last week.

    However still soo annoying.

    Hi
This may sound very thick but can you use this as a normal TV without the use of a PC or is it like an LCD monitor TV?
I'm after a 26" LCD tv for my spare room and don't want to get something that's not going to work without a PC...
    Cheers

Yes its a TV in its own right with build in speakers no PC required.
  • Just ordered one! For £360 surely its a real bargain seeing as the cheapest goodmans ones are virtually £500 still! Thanks plasticfantastic!

Just to manage some expectations - I was one of the suckers to order the 19" TFT only a week or so ago to be told I was getting a 17" CRT so on that basis you might get a 14" portable !

  • Only a couple of negatives with the spec/bundle that I can see from reading specs/reviews:

    - only a 1yr next day replacement warranty

    - it's not TRUE 16:9 native format as highlighted in some reviews

The display area is 566x340mm ie 566:318 would be 16:9, it's actually 15:9. One review says you can get the full 16:9 though, ie at the expense of wasting those 11mm top/bottom of the screen (340-318).

DONT FORGET if you are ordering from Dell to consider going via the reward sites - eg I went via MutualPoints who offer 2.63% back, rPoints offer 2.5% I believe.

Placed an order for one for Mother's Xmas present anyway.... £363.08 inclusive of VAT, delivered (with extra £9.50 discount due back via MutualPoints).
