Any TV is HD ready so this term is very misleading.

At present, 'HD Ready' means.... ' We are trying to get rid of old stock that will not work with Sky HDTV when it arrives, and hopefully some mug will buy it' :D

Unless the TV has HDCP then in my view, and Sky, it is not HD ready.

You are not completely correct. I agree people should not be misled but that is what you are doing.

As you are wrong in that it will display Sky HD if you get Sky HD early on.
The first batch of Sky HD boxes will have a component out for HD. It has a HD socket in component. I agree this TV and Sky HD are not a match made in heaven you need something bigger and preferably better response times.

I have a Projector (native 1280x720), samsung 32" LCD (8ms native 1368x768) and 2 x 2405FPW (native 1920x1200) so feel well qualified to talk about it but feel for £337 it is a bargain and capable of doing what you say it cannot...

who is the 'mug' now ? not sure implying people are mugs for buying an absolute bargain is right? talkhop? talksh** more like.
  • it would appear that the 19" is £256 and not £240??

is this right or is the 15% to be knocked off that £256 price?

    Cheers

    Pete

    There's free delivery, mercman.
So when you add it to your basket, it deducts £15.28 delivery to bring the price to £240 ish.

    Thanks for that ALERT!!!!

I certainly feel duped IF the "HD Ready" quotation on Dell's website does NOT mean the same as the "EICTA HD Ready" (which obviously has a copyrighted LOGO "HD Ready", with self-certification but which Dell is not listed in!) which requires:

    EICTA HD Ready

    1. Display, display engine
    • The minimum native resolution of the display or display engine physical lines in wide aspect ratio.

    2. Video Interfaces

    • The display device accepts HD input via:
    o Analogue YPbPr1, and
    o DVI or HDMI

    • HD capable inputs accept the following HD video formats:
    o 1280x720 @ 50 and 60Hz progressive (“720p”), and
    o 1920x1080 @ 50 and 60Hz interlaced (“1080i”)

    • The DVI or HDMI input supports content protection (HDCP)

    (as copied from http://www.eicta.org/files/LicenseAgreement-114600A.pdf )

The Dell US website for the W2600 explicitly says "DVI-HDCP" connector and "AV Input: DVI - Yes (DVI-HDCP) (1, shared with PC).

Whereas the Dell EURO website says "DVI-CE" and "AV Input: " (no mention of DVI and/or HDCP, that's just on PC Input screen!).

So I've emailed them saying if it's true this is not really HD Ready with HDCP support then they can cancel the order obtained by misrepresentation!

Shall await developments - REALLY curious that the US and EURO sites differ in this for the same W2600 model (though clearly the US model has to potentially have different circuitry to deal with their naffer NTSC TV there).

Clearly the Dell person reported earlier saying it's NOT the same as the expensive model (quoted as having DHCP in some reviews!) earlier in the year may know what he's talking about!
