According to Home Cinema Choice the DVI input is HDCP compliant too !
So more 'HD Ready' than I thought. HDMI to DVI are easy to get.

This looks like a great deal but do you think the prices of plasma and LCD tellys are gonan drop a lot in the new year?? I've seen 42" plasmas for £800 in Argos so surely that's a good sign that there's gonna be more crazy price wars in the January sales and better deals for us??0

it is only £337 after adding to basket and going thru quidco, at no point does dell charge you £378, so you the one who is wrong0

Shall await developments - REALLY curious that the US and EURO sites differ in this for the same W2600 model (though clearly the US model has to potentially have different circuitry to deal with their naffer NTSC TV there).
Clearly the Dell person reported earlier saying it's NOT the same as the expensive model (quoted as having DHCP in some reviews!) earlier in the year may know what he's talking about!
Yeah let us know ! I was surprised it said HDCP in the Home Cinema review!0 -

Mixed reviews at prices close to a £1000 a few months ago, be honest you can't go wrong if its a 2nd telly or a new media centre PC monitor. I wouldn't have it as main viewing though, ordered one anyway.0 -

Depends how big your living room is, and dont forget 26" is the actual picture size so the picture area will be slightly larger than most 28" tubed TVs as their measurement includes the surrounding glass in the sizing. Our adequate 28" Samsung has a diagonal picture size of 25.75 inches.
The 19" will be great for bedrooms etc.
Good spot.

Yes it's actually even more ironic - as the PC Plus review quoted on the Dell site alongside the W2600 details does in its text say "...digital DVI-HDCP inputs" - see http://www.pcplus.co.uk/reviews/monitors/dell_w2600_lcd_tv
Have just received a confirmation that the Internet request has been accepted by Dell as an order, though still awaiting a reply from Dell re if really "HD Ready with DVI/HDCP" then fine otherwise Cancel.
However have just found a couple of links to W2600 European documentation on the Dell site. The 15MB User Manual PDF has an Index entry for "DVI-HDCP" which refers to the page with how to connect DVI cabling but no reference beyond that. The 4MB Setup Guide PDF at https://support.euro.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/W2600/europe/Placemat/EMEAplacemat-EFSI.pdf is more explicit about the connectors/input selection:
"Select the proper input source based on which connectors you used.
VGA — VGA connector on the bottom of the TV
DVI — DVI-HDCP connector on the bottom of the TV
TV — ANT/Cable connector on the bottom of the TV
AV1 — Composite connector on the side of the TV
AV2 — Composite connector on the bottom of the TV
AV3 — S-Video connector on the side of the TV
AV4 — S-Video connector on the bottom of the TV
AV5 — Component connector on the bottom of the TV
AV6 — Component connector on the bottom of the TV
SCART — SCART connector on the back of the TV"
So both their European/English online documents explicitly refer to DVI-HDCP.
I also looked at the US version (17MB!) of the User Guide and it's the same as the UK ie just the Index entry to DVI-HDCP and implying there's no difference US/Euro specifications despite the differences on the website (see my earlier message).
Incidentally I found this About.com document very helpful about all this HD related terminology http://tv.about.com/od/hdtv/a/hdmidvihdcp.htm
Oh and one final tidbit of information - Dell's automated system said my "estimated delivery date is Wednesday 30th November".0 -
Very nice sounding TV this.
Great price for a 26" LCD! A Flat 28" CRT would set ya back £300ish, which makes it all the more tempting...so wanna go for it now, but I want to save my money for a Dell 2405FPW again, to replace the void my last faulty one of those left0 -
£347.30 in total (after the 5% reduction). Just bought one. Who cares if it isn't as good as a £1000 telly or has HDCP or some other stuff I might never use. What counts is that I just got a 26" lcd monitor for £347.30.
I'll buy that for a dollar.
Go on, fill ya boots.Titch0
