Had to order me one aswell in-time for xmas.
Wanted to wait for the sales but couldn`t resist....
Anythings better than my old Philips 24" old fashioned set...
Good find...0 -
Just wondering if this TV will be able to display my XBox 360 in high definition mode?
Seems like an extraordinary deal if it will. I am not that bothered about the HDTV display though.0 -
From the spec on the Dell website, I'll be using mine for HD Xbox 360 and (later) Sky HD.
Got my PDFs last night, and on checking my order its now been sent out
Expected delivery still showing as 30th Nov at latest.0 -

It will do as it supports 720p.
For gaming though the response time may be a little slow (25ms). Depends on how serious a gamer you are ?0 -
mk-donald wrote:Only a couple of negatives with the spec/bundle that I can see from reading specs/reviews:
- only a 1yr next day replacement warranty
- it's not TRUE 16:9 native format as highlighted in some reviews
The display area is 566x340mm ie 566:318 would be 16:9, it's actually 15:9. One review says you can get the full 16:9 though, ie at the expense of wasting those 11mm top/bottom of the screen (340-318).
DONT FORGET if you are ordering from Dell to consider going via the reward sites - eg I went via MutualPoints who offer 2.63% back, rPoints offer 2.5% I believe.
Placed an order for one for Mother's Xmas present anyway.... £363.08 inclusive of VAT, delivered (with extra £9.50 discount due back via MutualPoints).
Order through Quidco and you get 5% back0 -
Everytime I have ordered through quidco i get zero back! I need to get onto them about this as the 5% was not taken off my order it was still £363.Happiness is wanting what you have, not having what you want.
Primum non noce!0 -
I don't think quidco works like that. I thinnk the 5% will apear in your quidco account.Titch0

Thanks for the post - been looking at this for the last week on Aria.co.uk and thought it a good deal for £511, but at this price it's a steal!0

Guyz.
EXCELLENT NEWS re 'HD Ready' - the W2600 is indeed "HD ready".
After leaving my name/number in Dell's callback queue ("over 5 mins"), I was duly rung back and after being passed from India to the US to Ireland (from the voices that spoke to me), after 10 minutes I had a 15 minutes chat/search with a very helpful technical support person who indeed re-assured me that the W2600 is indeed "HD Ready" "out of the box" (per Dell's internal briefing documents) with the necessary DVI-HDCP feature. Indeed I have an email from them explicitly stating:
"DVI-HDCP Feature
The W2600 offers a Digital Video Interface (DVI) that is intended to carry high-resolution video signals from digital set-top boxes (HDTV-capable DIRECTV, DISHNetwork, and cable boxes, plus a few DVD players). This connection supports the HDCP (high definition content protection standard. "
So my mind has been set at rest AND my order shipped this morning - 'expected Wednesday'.
Now if only I had known about QUIDCO when I placed my order, I could have got 5% credited to my (new) Quidco a/c and even after their £5/pa rake off, I'd be £5 better off - oh well, can't be perfect.
Some comfort re HD Ready for all you fellow orderers/would-be orderers anyway.
Roll on next Wednesday - can see my parents having great fun getting to grips with their very early Xmas present.

Hmmm, I am not really sure. Serious enough to get the XBox on the release date and I have had just about every console going but really console gaming is my limit.
What would be considered a good response time and what effects will a poor response time have?0
