  • When you press the back button on IE from any forum to give a list of all forums you get a message saying that this forum is under maintenance and won't be available til 6pm. (Second time reporting this!). Also the daily tips list is stuck on Wednesday
Survivor of debt, redundancy, endowment scams, share crashes, sky-high inflation, lousy financial advice, and multiple house price booms. Comfortably retired after learning to back my own judgement.
This is not advice - hopefully it's common sense..

It is likely that you have a cached copy of the index stored on your computer. The back button on internet explorer first attempts to pull data out of a cache if available and wont attempt to pull down new data if a cache version is present.

Therefore to reload the cache goto http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/index.html and press ctrl-F5 to load the new version.

Hopefully this will fix your forums under maintenance error.

Seems pretty speedy to me now. I'm using Firefox, not tried it with IE.

And the 'thanks' button seems to have come back. It was missing for me for a while.

    Current issue:

The clock seems to be set to British Summertime, or was when I posted last.

Keep up the good work, guys. And yes the red box is still alarming me every time I load a page, but I guess it's probably necessary, so I won't grumble. :)

It is easier to show you this than describe it, but these lines are about 1¼" too short at the left:

    Lineprob.jpg

It does it with the ones at the top of the post, and edit notices, but not with signatures

I am on opera BTW, and this never happened before the switch.

I'm finding that if I 'back screen' into the main forum from a thread, I get the 'site down for maintenance try again after 2pm' message.
If it happens again simply hold down 'shift' and hit the 'refresh' button - it wil force the page to be reloaded instead of getting it from the cache.

Thanks for this - uncommented a line that in the code by accident. That should be better for you now!

    Thanks
