because maybe she needs a job

I worked in retail for 12 years, i walked out as i decided that being threatened with a needle that they told me contained blood infected with HIV because i was "looking at him funny", kinda overstepped the boundaries of the customer always being right!

Three years down the line, im still working in temp jobs because where i live there are no jobs other than retail or call centres.

I am a university student, not many sectors would take me only really jobs in retail would give me a look in, I however have recently got a job in the railway industry and after a year working there (on a placement) can say I love it!

There are always options, retail is not the only form of income.

I think if you read the replies above you'll see it's not always easy for some people depending on their circumstances. Qualifications is one obvious thing that will vary from one person to another.

Qualifications don't come into it. I've never had a problem finding work, I choose NOT to work in retail.

Other people choose to work in retail because it suits them, it just bugs me when people complain about how bad their job is.

If its that bad change jobs, its not rocket science (unless you do have loads of qualifications)

I had a problem with a Tesco delivery from my local store back in June. It's a long story but I sent an e-mail to customer services which had a read receipt on it. When read receipt came back it said it was deleted without being read. Phoned and CS wasn't bothered so I wrote to CS telling them my problem and that their attitude to my complaint was awful. I made it clear I expected a letter back...........still haven't had one.

I am using Tesco but only if I absoutely have to. Ocado price match Tesco, they tell me if they are going to substitute items, their drivers and staff are pleasant and I don't even have cause to complain.

Having said that I think it is this one store locally that has the problem. Staff morale seems awful but I really don't think that manners cost anything so I try not to go in there unless I have to.

What if they live in an area with few other employers?
