Tesco - Customer Service

Sorry if already a thread, but I am so fed up with my local Tesco store. There is no such thing as friendly, helpful, courteous staff...Went today to get Clubcard points on two receipts (I had forgotton to take card at time of purchase), Handed them over, both were scrutinized, points added, handed back. Not one word throughout from assistant....Did some shopping, got hit on leg by assistant on aisle with trolley stacking shelves...On frozen aisle two assistants were chattering away, did not attempt to move away from cabinet. Gave up. My purchases have been down by half last quarter, as I have been shopping elsewhere, but there are still some things worth buying in Tesco...Not anymore. Sorry to have gone on, but needed to vent my wrath.

Know the feeling, complained about some crepes we bought from there that tasted like they'd mistaken the flour for the yeast, provided all the info, got a letter back saying that we forgot to put in batch number... not worth sending another letter, but now we're getting deliveries from ASDA shopping loads of offers and free deliveries and doing better on the amount we spend on shopping since doing that.0

I live in Stoke on Trent (north) and last Friday wanted to go to Tesco to buy some cheap jeans.
I phoned customer services and asked if they sold jeans at the Congleton store, so the lady checked on the computer and said that yes, they do sell ladies jeans.
So off I went 9 and 1/2 miles Congleton. When I got there, looked all round the store, no clothes.
So I went and asked at customer services, they were lovely. No, they don't sell clothes at all there.
19 miles round trip to Congleton on a wasted journey. That means going about 7 - 8 miles south of my house to Longton to get some. Grrr.
I phoned customer services when I got home and they just said 'Oh sorry, we'll log it so it doesn't happen again'
Doh! Wharrabout my wasted blinkin' petrol then? Tesco customer services, none-existant.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

It also happens the other way round with customers too. 90% of customers at my store have no concept of manners and have never heard the phrase "excuse me please". (OP..Did you ask the two assistants to move so you could get past?, or did you stand there tapping your foot and just expecting them to know that you wanted to get past? And I'm sure the assistant that accidently hit you with the trolley would at least of said "sorry").
I work on home shopping and it's unbelievable the amount of people that are rude, arrogant and ignorant when I'm picking on the shop floor.
Shoppers standing on ends of isles chatting to people they may know and being completely oblivious to anyone else at all if they are in the way and no one can get past them.
Shoppers coming up to you and saying "where's this...." then !!!!!!ing off.... no "please", no "hello/excuse me/thankyou"...etc. People reaching/trying to grab things on a shelf that you happen to be infront of and not saying a word to you.. and if you do move out of the way..you guessed it..no "thankyou" even though they have recognized you have moved to let them get what you want....
And then theres the great trolly bashing into you and not saying "sorry" or an "o sorry" in a sarcastic tone like your a piece of scum, just because you work in a supermarket.
If you have ever worked in a supermarket you will understand just how unforgiving the british public really are and how selfish and snobbish the majority are.
The british public really are some of the rudest people I have encountered...now theres my rant!0 -
I think that customer service everywhere is terrible. In my experience the majority of shop assistants are unfriendly and unhelpful, some are lovely though. Just last week i was blatantly ignored in netto, and had some awful service in boots and mothercare. Although on my previous visit to Boots the other day i was served by a lovely assistant and if i intended to email Boots to say how nice and helpful she was but i lost my receipt with her name on.
I have emailed waitrose 3 times because i found lots of bugs in the strawberries i bought from there. i keep emailing but have had no response at all from them.
My local Tesco are terrible at the customer service desk too.
I just don't think people care anymore.now mum of 4!!!0 -
How dare these people earning minimum wage, working 7 days a week, now 24 hours a day, not have the decency to bow to your every whim?!?
try working in a shop for a few weeks, im sure your outlook would soon change!0 -

Then why not ban the entire British public from your shop?
Let me guess... it's because you want their money.0 -
My local Tesco is lovely, never had any problems. However Toys'R'Us is awful here, they just don't speak, smile or anything. It really puts me off going there as I'm quite a smiley person and am always polite but hate having it thrown back in my face. It irks me even more when I have the kids with me, especially the little one who smiles like mad and expects one back.0

It would be interesting to know whether the experience of staff from different supermarkets is the same.
Are Waitrose customers more polite than Tesco customers for example?Don't grow up. Its a trap!
Peace, love and labradors!0 -
I shop in my local Tesco and in Asda at the other side of town - always found the staff in both to be pretty friendly and helpful.0
