I've done this (well not all of it) I left school and went into a large bank.
Hated it (was'nt for me); anyway it was in days when computers did'nt do most of the work.
A customer called and wanted to withdraw £2000; any large requests had to be double checked. I set aside the £2000 (£1000 came from the safe) to be checked; however the head teller also took £1000 from the safe; short story it all got mixed together. The customer walked away with a extra £1000. The manager phoned him; the customer said no; it was'nt until they warned the customer of police action the customer agreed to pay it back.
I was asked to collect the money with head cashier and give the customer a free umbrella!
I was awlful at that job. young did'nt care; hated the pressure. its life mistakes happen!0 -

I've asked to see the video footage and the manager said im not allowed, its out of bounds. I signed a receipt in the bank but that was the banks copy, I havnt got a receipt or any piece of paper stating I took out 4000 other than my online statements. The man I took the car off was kinda in a rush and didnt really bother counting the money fully. The cashier who gave me the money even rang me and asked for his phone number and if I knew where he lived. His name isnt on the v5
Thanks0 -
One thing puzzles me here, sounds like the OP got the car before paying the 4K, what sort of seller/dealer would hand over a car to someone he does not know, with only a deposit paid, and arrange to meet them somewhere to collect the balance?
Or have I completely misunderstood, has the trader got the 4K, 1K AND the car!?!
Initially I felt for the OPs predicament, but the details are not adding up here to me.0 -
U withdrew £4k and 'didnt get a receipt?!' ROFLMFAO :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:WOW WOW WOW :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
And you paid someone 4k (or 5k) and neither that person gave you a receipt.

Could you clarify one thing for me? What are these "bus" things that you refer to?
I can do better than that, here is a nice bus full of the English gentlemen you spoke of:

Notwithstanding the fishy smell, here goes…yes the bank said they have video footage of the cashier giving me 5000. The cashier didn't confirm how much she put in. She just put it into the envelopes. The manager rang me and wanted the money back, and I exlpained the situation to him. I think they might involve the police, but I cannot trace the other guy back.I've asked to see the video footage and the manager said im not allowed, its out of bounds. I get the feeling some of the people posting about how bank cashiers "always" behave in a certain way have never actually withdrawn a large sum of cash from a bank.
2) Last time I got a similar amount it was £1000 per bundle and ‘flip’ counted in front of me. I paid attention.
Cashiers always behave in certain ways as rigid routine is the way to get things right.bengal-stripe wrote: »And you paid someone 4k (or 5k) and neither (sic) that person gave you a receipt.

One suspects that it was all the punctuation.
