It's not the issue of making people wait, it's not wanting to make it obvious in front of many people that you're about to walk out into the street with a large sum of money.

I got called by the actual cashier that counted money out to me, she was properly stressed out, she hadn't as it goes given me and more/less than she should have but clearly had to someone... the person is probably less likely to be fired if they get the money back.

Rubbish. When you take money to a bank you get a receipt, not when you take it out over the counter.

The only 'receipt' in this case would be the money being debited from the account and appearing on the statement.

So in Harry's story, it's possible that they have no idea who they gave the extra money to, and they're just targeting him because he made one of the larger cash withdrawals of the day from that branch.

It's amazing that some of the people posting on this thread have such strong views about something they seem to have absolutely no experience of.

Does anyone else think this is dodgy? what not paying attention when the cashier was counting out the money? Its a lot of money. When I've got cash before from the Nationwide I've always had the money counted out in front of me and felt very vulnerable carrying it back to the car.Hoping noone in the bank queue was following me.
