Marbles now offers 0.5% cashback from July 20th 2004.0

I too am very disgruntled with Capital One and their reduction to 0.5% cashback. I contacted them to ask for my cashback entitlement now, and they have said I have to wait to January, which I am not happy about at all. As far as I am concerned they have changed the contract, and therefore should allow me my cashback now - what do others think? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Unfortunately they do resreve the right to alter terms and conditions provided they give you proper notice.
To be honest I think they have done this reasonably well. They have obviously looked at the market and how much they feel they have to offer as cashback and decided 0.5% is right for them. They could have sneaked in an insert in the statement in a miniscule 2 point font but decided to send everyone a letter to avoid any accusations of underhand tactics.
I may not like their decision, I may not agree with their rationale but I cannot fault their methods.
Of course there is no harm in asking provided a "no" doesn't offend.0 -
Rail travel is another good area for cashback gains (they take AMEX as well).
You could offer to buy annual rail cards for people (you know)?0 -
Hi Martin,
I was wondering why you didn't mention the Conran Card in your article this time like you did in a previous article. According to my calculations it is the best Visa cashback card around. They guarantee to pay at least 0.8% cashback on all spending, but to my knowledge have always paid 1%. It is a profit share card so the cashback rate could of course go up even higher if enough people started using it.
Thanks

I don't think full details of this card are available online, do you know if they are?
I've seen stuff about getting 1 "share" of the profits for every £100 spent but don't know of any guarantees as to what that equates to in %age terms.
Its an MBNA card isn't it?0 -

And from that page:
**Profits referred to are those that will be earned by the Conran Company Ltd through the card programme. Terms and Conditions apply. Full details will be sent with your card.
so I guess full T&C are not available online.0 -
Hi Guys,
OK, I've checked both the Conran site and MBNA site, and like you can't find the terms & conditions for the profit share scheme either, so I phoned their helpline on 0800 776 262, and here is how it works.
You earn 1 profit share for each £100 spent. Each profit share is guaranteed to be worth £0.80 (0.8%) but since it's launch in 2001 has always been worth £1.00 (1%). I've checked my paperwork, and I don't seem to have been given a copy of the terms & conditions for the profit share scheme when I got my card, but they are sending me one within the next 7-10 days, so when it arrives, I will update you with the exact wording.
Hope this helps.
