I've been in touch with Capital One re. my Circle Rebate card - Helen Shipway there tells me that there are no plans to change the 1% cashback ???

I was told the same thing last week. Got my reduction notice this morning >:( Only moved to them because Goldfish reduced the value of their points.

I got my letter yesterday telling me about reduced cashback.

I moved house last year and spent about £20K on the card so I was hoping that I might get to keep the 1%, but no luck.

My Capital One cashback also reducing to 0.5%. I looked at Bank of Ireland as previously mentioned and found it to be 0.5% also. Not wanting cashback to be spent on selected holidays. Amex not accepted at a lot of the stores I use. So what’s best now for a full payment guy? Probably still Capital One. I should show them a bit of loyalty I suppose. They have been good for me for quite some time now. But tempted not to use their card for a while in the hope that if enough people do it they may decide they made a mistake in changing it and put it back to 1%. Dream On.

    murphydavid,

if you look just a couple of posts up the page there is a link to BOI card details which includes "Conditions: 0.5% CB on first £3K, then 1%"

If you use one of these then your annual cashback will only be reduced by £15 though there is a max of £20K for CB spend.

Loyalty? Pah!! You can use Amex at most places and get 1% with the Blue card; where you can't why not use Morgan Stanley (1% on first £2000 pa).

Similar situation witn the Co-op Bank Visa Travel Card. Min 5% discount off brochure prices for holidays booked with Travelcare Direct, 1% 'travel points' rebate agianst holiday prices for everything including balance transfers plus 6 months on 0% for balance transfers & purchases.

Hey, this is wierd - 'travel points' not only on purchases but also on balance transfers.

I'm not so interested in travel points but it's got me wondering whether any card offers genuine cashback on balance transfers? Because if so, I could repeatedly transfer a debit balance from another card to this card and then transfer it back again, to and back, to and back, and each time I transfer the balance to, I'd get cashback!

What's the catch? Even if not available for true cashback, the Co-op Travel thing could soon build up enough credit that a Travelcare direct holiday would be cheap, whatever its catalogue price.

Can't find it! (Got to say, Search isn't the best bit of this fantastic site).

Where did I see mention of a card with 5% genuine cashback, but just for one month, with advice to use it if a major purchase is imminent, otherwise not to bother as the %age will revert to nothing much, after the one month?

Did I dream it? Do these come up, if so how do we get to know, is it feasible to jump in, or is it really only for lucky existing customers?
