I've had this Bank of Ireland Mastercard since the middle of 2004 when Martin first mentioned it.
So far it's been excellent, with the added bonus that if you ring their customer services number, you get through to a human being!
Particularly amusing to ring about 9am on a Sunday morning after an Ireland win at the rugby.0 -
Martin, you're now recommending the citibank visa card, where does the Morgan Stanley card now feature?Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0

Just received my 1st M S statement. It shows Cashback Award Summary as:
Accumulated this period: (equivalent to 1%)
Additional Reward added this period: (equivalent to 1%)
Total since Anniversary Date: (equivalent to 2%)Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0 -
After reading Martin's advice on 'Best Credit Cards for Cashback' I decided to apply for the Citi Bank Visa. I had looked at Amex some time ago but decided against that due to limitations of use.
However, as I am retired, Citibank said "Sod Off" (not quite in those words). This, I assume is because my (our) annual income is less than £40K. Although my net worth is in excess of £1m.
I currently have a normal visa card with a limit of £25k per month, which I pay off in total, without any cash back or other freebies.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Just got my halifax one and have 8months interest free to run.
I quite fancy the citi card - as it is limited should I get it now, so I can use it when the halifax 1% is over for the cashback, or will that have been decreased come 8 months time?0 -
A card no one seems to have mentioned is the Barclaycard (Visa) choice card, it pays 0.5% on first £4000 and 1% thereafter. Barclaycard don't advertsise this card you need to phone and ask for it. Cashback is paid once a year as a reduction on your bill. I've been using htis card for over 3 yeards now.0

Hi John,
I got my dad to apply for the citibank one last week online and he got approved (online). He's retired and annual income is alot less than£40K.
Admittedly neither he nor myself have yet got the agreement in the post.0 -
having read Martin's tip re the citi cashback card , I've applied and have just received the credit card agreement form and there is no mention in the T&Cs about cashback - should I be concerned ?0

Hello all
I am getting married in October and have funds in place to pay for it. However, I have put them against my flexible mortgage to benefit from the interest and tax free aspects. Now we have a number of things to pay for in the run up to October and want to use a 0% card which will also get us some cashback/airmiles or another helpful benefit. I'll then pay it off after the wedding. Anyone got any recommendations? I want (dunno if that is the right word) to spend £15K approx.
Thanks0
