I also wasn't referring to your post, more Schamanskys drivel.
This false superiority is from both sides.
You quoted me!
I don't think I'm superior for shopping at Aldi - though I do think I'm superior for not having social prejudices about where other people shop
(not implying that any particular person does have these prejudices - though various people on this thread have expressed them):money: I heart Martin! :money:0 -
It was I that said the pork lasagne was horrible, it was. I didn't say all Aldi food is horrible, just the stuff I have tried.
Others might like it, I don't, simple as that.
I also don't like caviar, others might, I don't, simple as that.
I'm fussy about coffee (I like Kenco), bread (I like Roberts) & meat (I like lean meat, whether it be from the butchers or a supermarket) and butter/margarine (I like Clover).
I'm not fussy about cereals (I buy own brands), biscuits (I buy some value), pop (I buy own brand, as long as it's sugar free), cartons such as pure orange juice, apple juice etc (I buy value).
So am I half snob half cheapskate? If you're going to stalk me, while you're at it can you cut the grass, feed the dog & make sure I've got bread & milk in0 -

I quoted you because it was relevant, thats all.0 -

My daughters boyfriend made her this (home made) he didn't realise, she said it was awful.
Others might like it, I don't, simple as that. Neither would I:eek:

I'm not fussy about cereals (I buy own brands), biscuits (I buy some value), pop (I buy own brand, as long as it's sugar free), cartons such as pure orange juice, apple juice etc (I buy value). Cereals, yes fussy, biscuits all sorts, & pop DH likes Coke, I like Pepsi (so we get Pepsi:rotfl: )
So am I half snob half cheapskate?
I use the Aldi car park (as its free) when I go to the sorting office. I'm a free loader:rotfl:0 -

Aha! So that's why there are always Audis and Mercs there as someone pointed out! They use the free car park. :rotfl:If you're going to stalk me, while you're at it can you cut the grass, feed the dog & make sure I've got bread & milk in0 -

Fair enough
Though you did say:The only good thing about Lidl is their fireworks!
Aldi I have been to once and thought it was utter crap. Apart from some little chocolate things I bought, that's probably all I'd eat from there.
Which implies that you have written off all of their products based on limited experience. Personally I have only found one ready-made chicken pie that was palatable - and that is M&S - in others the chicken content is consistently shocking, and the entirety packed full of chemicals. If you don't like pork lasagne anyway, I hardly think you can blame the shop that sold it. And garlic and mussels have a tendency to lead to bad breathe - if that is a concern get your hubby to avoid them altogether!
Re. the snob vs cheapskate point, the snobbery I spoke about isn't based on where someone shops - it's based on prejudice. Making educated decisions about where you shop and what products you buy is your own prejudice. But I think if someone bases that decision on a prejudice, then they are a snob. Basing it on taste, cost, convenience is a far more valid choice.:money: I heart Martin! :money:0 -

That's not abnormal. Often a single bad experience with a shop, a restaurant, a company, etc. is enough to put people off for good.
I've not been inside an Asda for twenty years, because it used to be my local supermarket until I moved and I loathed every second I spent in there. They've probably changed since then, but they lost me a long time ago (and I don't have one close to me any more anyway). Happens all the time.0 -
Correct, I had only been to Aldi once, however, the MIL is a regular which is why I've tried several things so have based my opinion on several products.
I also went back to Aldi to have a look round after this thread was started, just because I said I would, I was pleasantly surprised that it was more organised than the last one I visited, although I didn't notice that it was cheaper (I didn't inspect everything though), apart from the tubs of little flapjacks, shortbreads etc which were 99p which is cheaper than supermarkets.
I think the little chocolate things were from Lidl not Aldi actually so Lidl is good for those aswell as the fireworks, the fireworks are very good, by the way and yes, they are better than Sainsbury's fireworks!
The bit where I said I thought Aldi was crap is because I think it is crap! It's crap for me, I don't like going there.
A 'cheap' shop I do like going to is Home Bargains, they really do have good stuff cheaper. If you're going to stalk me, while you're at it can you cut the grass, feed the dog & make sure I've got bread & milk in0 -
Shurrup.!! .. Aldi is great, I shop there 99% of the time, good value for money and my store has been refurbished and is all modern and lovely. :cool:0
