Mrs E, I do hope you buy all your clothes from Primark and Peacocks.

If you admit to going into Next or Gap it looks as if you'll get your legs smacked.

Can't understand why people are getting cross with other people for where they choose to buy their groceries!

    I know, I really don't understand it.

If it was their money I could understand them wanting to TELL others what to do:rolleyes:
But as its mine I will spend it where I bl00dy well like.

An awful lot of Aldi/Lidl/Netto shoppers are only enforcing others view that they are frequented by rude chavs/thugs/low-lifes:D ;)
  • Bah, Primark. That's for plebs lacking the class to employ their own personal tailor.
Though it's not as if rude, lowlife chavvy discounter clientele such as all those who post here needed to know.

IMO, it isn't getting cross for where they choose to shop, it is about often ill-informed prejudice of people who shop at aldi/lidl - i.e. stating that the places stink, they would be embarrassed about carrying bags from those shops, or that that the food is nasty.

I don't think anyone appreciates being told they buy nasty goods from a stinky shop, where other people would be embarrassed to be seen. Especially if that is just not true.

    I NEVER said they stink
I would be embarrased to carry their carrier bags - its hessian eco bags for me now;) I would be embarrased to turn up at any supermarket without my hessian eco bags.
I don't know if the food is nasty or not, but I do know its "unusual" (not your regular familar) brands.

Why have I been attacked for NOT shopping there?

I wasn't attacking you! Or even referring to any post of yours!

My comment was based on what I'd read on the thread up til now - by multiple people.

As quoted, I was responding to the question about why people get cross about where others shop - stating my opinion that I don't think that is why hackles get raised.

Many people on this thread have implied false superiority based on others' decisions about why they shop - this is why I think people get cross.

Again, not directing this at any one person.

    .

I also wasn't referring to your post, more Schamanskys drivel.

This false superiority is from both sides.
  • I shop in Aldi for the vast majority of my staples (and wine, Aldi spanish rose is THE most delicios wine ever) and Sainsbury for convenience as it's nearest. Our Aldi usually has more BMW's and Mercs in the car park than I have fingers to count, and I think it is particularly silly to be snobby about where you shop, but there is sometimes a bit of a sniff from others when I say I love the shop. Tis their loss though, friends of mine who whinge about spending £150 in Sainsbury and having bought nothing to make an actual meal from, are just plain idiotic.

My butchers is cheaper than the supermarket as well, and he is so lovely and helpful that even if he cost the same, I'd still buy his meat anyway
Cogito ergo sum. Google it you lazy sod !!

I shall now leave it to the readers to make out of this what they want.
