    I've concluded one important thing........

    1. You shop at Aldi/Lidl. :rotfl:

Bravo! I do shop at Aldi and Lidl. Like lots of other people.

Infact, I noticed that The Hairy Bikers shop there too. You can see they use various Lidl ingredients on the TV.

They also made a pie out of chicken thighs.

Yeah but unlike the near min wage retail earners the Aldi ones are expected to earn their £8 (watching them it seems to me they do the work of someone on twice that).

Suppose it all comes down to pay penuts get monkeys (no offence ment to anyone else in that line of work reading this).

Trust me I've worked in retail in easy as hell jobs, interesting/enjoyable but hard work jobs, and incredibly stressful run-off-your-feet jobs for quite a while, ALL for crap wages. (including two jobs where they expect their staff to be highly trained, and have the knowledge of 'tech support' and still paid <£6.50ph.). If I'd known about Aldi paying £8+/hr I would have JUMPED at the chance.

And despite what half of supermarket shoppers seem to think (based on how they treat the staff), retail does not automatically equal thick as a plank.

    (no offence taken :) )

    No, why?

It's always entertaining to watch people showing themselves up as complete snobs.

    1. You're not very bright.
    2. You eat with your eyes.
    3. Aldi probably isn't for you because of 1 and 2.

    :money:

Everyone eats first with their eyes, thats why presentation is so important with food:rolleyes:

    Fair point.

Ok what i should have said is that paying more they would attract better staff who are motivated to work harder due to better wages.
Hi there! We’ve had to remove your signature. It was so good we removed it because we cannot think of one so good as you had and need to protect others from seeing such a great signature.

Personally, I quite like Aldi - I find it a very nice change from the likes of Tesco / Asda etc. I think the quality of the food is really quite good. In particular, I like the fruit and vegetable ranges, which I think have more taste than from the larger UK supermarkets. The larger supermarkets seem obsessed with appearance (over taste and variety) . Personally, I don't care what the fruit looks like - it is all about taste for me.

I also like the dairy, frozen and bread ranges quite a lot. The electrical / DIY hardware / computing stuff is also good and I enjoy browsing every now and again. Their customer service (refunds for electricals etc) seems to me to be excellent.

(I like Lidl too, but prefer Aldi)

I also think that the stores I visit are very clean and tidy (unlike, for example, Netto - which are sometimes quite disorganised).

It looks like they are expanding quite rapidly - http://www.freshplaza.com/news_detail.asp?id=24770 - according to the article, they plan to build a new store a week for the next 5 years, so some people must be liking them!
