Yeah but unlike the near min wage retail earners the Aldi ones are expected to earn their £8 (watching them it seems to me they do the work of someone on twice that).

Suppose it all comes down to pay penuts get monkeys (no offence ment to anyone else in that line of work reading this).

yes you do have to do more work than the tesco employees, you work longer hours than tescos, for example some days i did 8 - 7/8 depending on what time the store closed,

For those who have a problem with packing their stuff away from the till and stubbornly insist in holding up the queues because of their god-given right to their own infallible ways, I have a subtle hint.

Stay clear of Aldi and Lidl. You won't like it there, and they (that's staff and customers) won't like you, either.

i had to tell numerous customers on various occaisons not to do that and as such i got moaned at so dont try and pack the shopping into your bags once its scanned, plus if your stood there trying to pack it instead of putting it in the trolley then the shopping would pile up and the till operator would have to stop which would impact on his scanned items per minute/hour

Indeed, I am always impressed by the staff, they don't ever seem to stop!

I hate to say this but the way you eat your meat is EXTREMELY wasteful. Your premium cuts only account for a small proportion of the animal. The energy and the cost towards producing the whole animal is WASTED if you only eat breast meat and premium cuts. You may care about the animal but you don't have a care towards of what your habits are costing the environment.

Anyone who is not vegetarian MUST eat the whole animal. No amount of energy saving/recycling you do will make up for the energy wasted in producing parts of the animal you consider not good enough for you to eat.

Ahh so that's the reason the cheap shops food tastes like s*ite. I'll buy what I want to eat, it's my hard earned cash. I've got a lovely butchers T Bone steak for the bbq tonight, ohh yummy.:p.

how did u derive that from what i said, they do treat the customers with respect

I didn't 'derive' my post from what you said, my earlier post was as follows:-
the WORST thing about shopping at Aldi is the speed that the checkout operators fling your food through the scanner - they then growl at you and tell you to take your stuff to the side counter to pack your bag - not a nice attitude, not everyone knows the routine !
hence my comment about taking my business elsewhere where I will be treated with more respect.

Further, the Aldi I go to does have baskets.

One of the best things about Aldi is how quick the checkouts are - would you rather pack you bag quickly or spend 10 minutes in the queue at tesco...?

No excuse for growling though, nothing stopping an assistant from smiling and saying 'would you mind moving...'
  • To be honest I've never done a 'proper' shop in Aldi - as previously stated, there is not enough choice for me - but yes, I would rather wait in a queue at Asda - the staff there also offer to help pack your bags (which is quite handy if you have a trolley full and you're on your own).

I picked up a couple of Aldi's big reusable bags - two will fit the trolley. Once you've got everything on the conveyor belt, position the two bags in your trolley ready for the onslaught! Just throw it all in (within reason), and then its really easy to get everything into the car and then back out at home again. The key is to order everything on the converyor belt, heavy to light, so that the heavy stuff gets thrown first by the assistant and winds up at the bottom of the bags.
  • Aldi is great for me - 10 mins to do the trip, love their low fat brie, and the cheese slicey things are 30p cheaper than in Tesco, 69p for halfa kilo of red grapes at the moment.....................

But, I agree, you need to shop elsewhere too, but where money can be saved, I'd rather save it.
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!

Seriously why don't they have baskets:confused:

    Anybody know:confused:
They had them for a short spell at the Stockport branch, perhaps as a "test". After they disappeared my dad asked why, apparently somebody had left one on the floor and another shopper tripped over it - holding the store responsible.
