hi guys, I will give you one advice..... stop emailing Paypal! Get on the phone. England is a very funny country when all depends on the person you speak to, whether it is a shop, bank or paypal in this instance. There seems to be no law in place - all up to a mood of the person on the other side of the phone. So call Paypal and nicelly explain that you should get your money back - if it won't work hung up and call again - you will get through to someone else and you might be lucky.... Once you get a positive response ask them to make a note on the system what you have been promised - this way they won't be able to change their mind. Worked with me....

I really hope you will get your money back! Good luck! x x

I have found paypal will tell you anything on the phone just to get rid of you, I was assured once on several occasions that as a seller I was guaranteed to win a case against a scam buyer who was also threatening me..yet I ended up losing it.

Anyone who bought on ebay and only had the £150 of paypal protection is going to struggle, the earlier claims will be paid out on a first come first served basis whilst the money holds out, then claims that had full £500 of protection will be paid out (even if funds are not available) and only then will the later claims be settled. However, I would not let it rest for a while yet, have you actually made a formal complaint through the paypal complaints system, if not do that.

AS for chargebacks, anyone who has failed to get a refund in full and who paid by credit card should now go to that credit card supplier and chargeback the amount they are due. Again you may have to argue as sometimes they forget what liability they have.

Certain visa debit cards have a chargeback potential as well, in this instance go to the bank and be persistent, put everything in writing and send it in recorded. Do not just rely on phone calls or emails as these can be conveniently overlooked.

If you paid with a basic non Visa debit card, or an existing paypal balance or a bank transfer then you are on a sticky wicket and need to just keep trying with paypal.

  • We've just received a phone call from Trading Standards!!! They were following up the e-mail we sent to the local MP for Hillingdon. They said that they had received a few calls about our friend Emanoul. He collected some details but said that it was strange that this guy had an address on his website. He will keep us informed of any developments and will get back in touch with the MP about this.

OH off to conatact watchdog again. Last night they did a feature on a scam involving people looking for rented rooms so why not on pregnant women with soaring hormones!!!!!!!!

I too have had the email from Paypal saying they found the dispute in my favour BUT there are no funds in the sellers account to pay me back!

I am putting in a complaint against Paypal....will let you know!

What I dont understand is why some of us are getting refunds and some arent? Anyone know? I bought the buggy thru Ebay and paid by debit card through Paypal. What have I done differently to anyone else?

    And the saga continues!!!

After also recieving a mail from paypal stating case in my favour but no funds available for refund, I complained to paypal to highlight this scam and my case has gone from closed to under investigation / appeal by paypal.
Fingers crossed, they are starting to listen ....

info : Paypal claim made on 14th Oct , Payment direct via paypal to Emmanuol aka discount-buggies
  • No because I paid through Paypal with a VISA debit card . And my money refund came from Paypal not Ebay as I opened the dispute with Paypal .

when did you claim? There just doesn't seem to be any pattern to who gets money does there??!!
