  • Im glad someone has purchased and confirmed that beegees (user skdatta57) on ebay are 100% reputable. At £495 & £15 P&P = £510 they are defo the cheapest around for the ultima 8 in 1 combination if anyone is interested. I think this is whom I will confide in.
  • Glad message helped.

  • i gotta say my girlfrind bought one of these and i received an email from therainman who reffered us to this forum and said he did not mean to be intrusive but thought we should see this. Because of that i rang paypal who advised me to open a dispute which would effectively "hold the money" with paypal, meaning it would not be released to seller. I said i was happy to wait 28 days for pram and if it did not arrive on time i wanted a refund. Paypal received the claim and gave a refund instantly so i did get all of my money back. I'm sure my original posyt is on page 2. Ive got to say one thing - rainman i owe you mate!!!

im so sorry for all the people scammed by this clown - 41 negative feedback in the last month, if there is anything i can do to help please IM/email me (danshep24@googlemail.com) me. scamming people is bad enough but with an expectant child on the way and money being tight with bills/food going up i know how it is - this man has no soul!

we managed to buy the pram from fenwicks for half price £250, just the pram like non of the extras with it but its not a bad price. i dont think there are many fenwicks shiops over the country though, have a feeling its on the north east but if anyone is up my neck of the woods have a look in - we got ours two weeks ago, they may have soem left!

i really hope he gets what he deserves - complete scumbag!
  • Glad to hear you are getting sorted with prams everyone..just remember if you have your baby in your arms NOTHING can detract from that happy time.
my purchace would have just been to feed the pram addiction i have aquired since having our first daughter (now we have 3!......daughters that is,lol, ive had waaaaayyyy more prams than that, lol)
YOU are right danshep...hes is the lowest of the low, complete scumbag however,a clever one...and thats the real problem here,he hasnt 'gone away' happy with the few £1000's hes scammed,he will already be onto the next phase and it will be bigger and better because he has got away with it....or so he thinks, thats why we will push on and help you guys!
Was it just me or was anyone else glued to watchdog tonight....just incase!!!!?
    it takes more energy
    to hate than to love...
    love and relax!

  • We got ours at the weekend. Cost about the same!! The car seat doesn't fit so we need to get a base, then there's a raincover, sheets etc etc....probably be about £1000 when we've finished! When we started looking we were looking at much cheaper prams then this came along!!! At least we know we can sell them on ebay after!!!!!

There are some bases on ebay at the moment which people are sellling(if you are still using ebay of course!!!) Make sure its the current one(and make sure it fits your car seat),the one you need is either the isofix or the one with a spirit level,i think they may have changed them in March 2008.
Fortunately, the original pram id ordered with mamas and papas came with a free isofix car seat base, and mamas and papas have allowed the offer as the delivery hadnt been cancelled !!!!! So now all we need is baby to appear! 9 days to go, and its finally sorted- just waiting for £325 !!!!:o

Can I suggest that a list is kept on when people started paypal claims and when refunds are given. That way if claims from later dates are paid out people with earlier cliams will know they need to jump up and down on paypal for their own refund. It can be anonymous or maintained on whatever google or facebook group has been set up so that all affected users can refer to it.

I assume thebulk of the claims went in on the 8th, and if paypal stick to the 10 day window then there should be a mass pay out on the 18th. Although recently both me and another regular on here actually got a full refund on day 7 (not for prams!) but I don't why, if day 7 is possible that would make payouts posisble from tomorrow.

However, I have also had to wait 21 days before now for paypal to deal with a claim, so fongers crossed that isn't the case here.

Whta concerns me a little here is why some people got refunds immediately , were they refunded directly by the seller ?

Do you get an email from Paypal saying they have made a decision or something ? Just checked the status of my claim and no change at the moment .
Baby Thomas born 3 months early by emergency section on 21/1/09 weighing 1lb 15ozs .
Thomas came home after 3 months and 2 days in hospital weighing 5lb 15ozs
    Thomas weighed 21lb 4ozs on his 1st birthday , a total weight gain of 18lbs 5ozs !

Firstly it is worth remembering that a lot of paypal emails go astray, so it is always a good idea to check daily or every other day on the status of the dispute in case anything changes and further info is required. it is unlikely, but for the sake of a few minutes worth doing.

The normal pattern is that once the seller has not responded for 10 days the decision is awarded to the buyer and at that point the standard email is sent to the buyer. The problem arises when the buyer 'wins' the case but paypal cannot recover funds so you can get an email that says that the seller has failed to provide confirmation that the item has been received and the case has therefore been closed in your favour. It then goes on to say that xxx amount of funds have been recovered and that the remaining xxx will be sought by paypal on your behalf.

However all this depends on how paypal consider your claim and even if funds are not recovered it is worth appealing and going through paypal 's own complaint procedure. Whether funds were retrieved used to depend on what level of protection was offered on the auction, but very often paypal misunderstand their own rules and get in an awful muddle and need prompting to pay out in full. This has been my worry all along, some people have spent over £300 on items where only £150 of basic protection was offered and it may well boil down to a first come first served position with those submitting claims late losing out. However, new rules mean more protection and I am hoping that these new rules with full protection offered regardless are the ones that will apply here and that everyone will get a refund in full without any hassle.

Ultimately of course anyone that doesn't get a full refund immediately from paypal *and* who backed their paypal payment via a credit card can then chargeback against their credit card. This also applies to some Visa debit cards, but not straight debit cards.

OK, people not interested in the minutae of paypal need not read this post as it is a bit heavy going:

    http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/ebayexplained/paypal/buyerprotection.html

    This is what ebay say about using paypal on their site;

    hdr_pp_b_protect.gif
Simply use PayPal to pay for your items and your purchase may automatically be protected up to £150. In addition, if you use PayPal to purchase items from eligible sellers, you may be protected up to £500. Just look under the seller's name on the top right of your item page to see what level of protection you're entitled to.

    Note the word 'may'

The new rules say the following:

Full protection for your eBay purchases - whatever the amount.

Shopping on eBay now offers even greater protection. When you pay with PayPal, your item will be protected to its full value (including postage) - no more caps, no more seller criteria to keep track of. And because every item on eBay offers the option of paying with PayPal, you’ll have the choice of paying in a safer and more secure way without any hassle.
    with this proviso:
The payment must have been made using the “Pay Now” buttons on eBay or by associating the payment with the eBay item number on the PayPal site.

That means of course the few buyers who bought toutside of ebay and who did not link their payments to the auction are in a worse position than those who used ebay.

There is more here (new rules)

    http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/tp/paypal-protection.html

That link suggests that the new rules will only apply to purchases made since they came into force as it says :

Transactions Covered by PayPal Buyer Protection
PayPal Buyer Protection helps you in the event you do not receive your item or the item is significantly different from its description in the seller’s listing. An item is eligible for PayPal Buyer Protection if it meets the following eligibility requirements:
    • The “This item is fully protected when you pay with PayPal” message is displayed in the seller listing information.
    • You purchase your item on eBay.
    • You must use PayPal to pay for the item, and use the seller's email address associated with the listing. To make sure of this, use the gray Pay Now button when the eBay listing ends.
Just a thought I did have, this scammer set out with a real purpose and had done a lot of research. Can someone confirm he hasn't played the system further by asking for paypal payments to a different address or anything. basically did everyone pay directly via ebay using the 'pay now' button?

One last question then I'll go away!

Has anyone got an outstanding paypal chargeback that predates the 8th October?
