Is This Too Good To Be True?

I do feel this is a nasty targetted scam and although I am not affected I will assist in any way I can to help the affected users get their money back. However Rainman does have a slight point, even after this started to get discussed people were still buying on the basis that it was worth a try and paypal would protect them, I posted quite megatively on the paypal protection aspect only to be assured that of course paypal would refund you all.
I was just looking through the completed buggies on ebay to make sure that the user isn't selling under a different name and it does appear that people buying buggies are happy to take a lot more risks than in other high priced categories. There are several 'private' sellers selling oodles of brand new items, all with stock photos , yet try selling an electrical item for £300 with a stock photo and you'd barely get any interest as people would assume it is a scam and yet with buggies everyone is bidding.
Likewise I was appalled to see people buying second hand buggies with descriptions like 'carefully used only a year old' with delivery only and a stock photo of the buggy brand new..would you buy a second hand dress for £300 without seeing it first and only seeing aa photo from an M and S catalogue from last year?
I couldn't understand why this scammer choose buggies as to didn't seem logical to me, however it appears that this is an area where you can sell anything, with any terms , stock photos and low feedback and people will still buy. The scum bag has obviously done a lot of research and that worries me, if he has done that my research into buying habits he will have protected himself against a casual buyer tracking him down.
I can only urge people to screen grab their own auction pages, set up folders of correspondence and insist that the police register a complaint . Work together and track this person down. Also, spread the word on other mum and baby sites to take care when buying online, a scam like this could easily happen again, don't let it.
I have already warned others on Bounty.com, which is a website for expectant and new mums. Hope it has prevented some further purchases, although I had originally mentioned the website on there before I realised it was a scam.0 -
Mr Hassan is not listed at the address in Uxbridge (maybe he owns it, though?). No-one is currently listed there.
Mr Eleftheropoulus is only listed in N-u-T - at various addresses. There are no listings I could see anywhere else for this person. However, who knows if that's who the scammer is?0 -
I don't know if this is of any use to you at all, but it may be of help as he has used their services unlawfully and I'm sure they'll have something in the T and C's about keeping hold of his details in case it is needed in a lawsuit...
This is the web-hosting site he has used to make his web-site
http://www.synthasite.com/
You will see a link to it at the bottom of the discount buggy site.....clutching at straws really but I guess every little helps!Never put off until tomorrow what you can avoid doing altogether.:D0 -
I would be happy to try and track this scammer down. His website address is still up, maybe we ahoud attempt to buy a pushchair (without paying of course) and e-mail him a question see if he is still about scamming people?0

I've already done that, earlier today, but haven't had a reply yet.
Surely given the amount that he's now scammed, it's time the police took an interest?0 -
Yeah deffo has any one called them im not sure what to do. Just sent an e mail to watchdog! He must have got away with thousands!0

look i am probably going too get slated for saying this but i think people are giving TheRainman a bit of unfair stick here yes he/she is not in the same possition as most of you mums or mums to be
i got a few digs when i first started this thread for implying they were a scammer and hey ho it turned out my gut instinct was right and at the end of the day TheRainman did not have to take up his time by trying to notify buyers of the potential scam yes he may not have emailed you all but at the end of the day he managed to save atleast 20 people £99-£400 so well done :T if he had emailed you all he would still be doing it now as they sold a good few hundered buggies
i think what TheRainman was trying to get as was not i told you so but be very careful as paypal do indeede try and get out of coughing up and i have read before and had happen to a freind that if the seller has no funds left in there account you receive and email something along the lines of you have been sucessful in winning the dispute but the buyer has no funds left in there account, and paypal just leaves the sellers account in the red hoping that they will use it to sell again one day then they will recoupe monies
i may be wrong with paypals new protection policys but did nt most of the sales take place before this came in to affect??
i really do hope that each and every one that has been scamed get 100% of there money back and this scammer gets tracked down and brought to justice and then end of the day having a baby should be the most exciting time of your life you should not have to put up with additional stress of trying to find the funds to buy one of the biggest thing u need for a baby when you have already paid once and the same goes for all that already have childeren bringing them up is expenive enough
i understand that there is alot of emmotions, stress and anger flowing arround this thread at the moment but us squabling among ourselfs is not going to catch this NUMPTY  that thinks he can get away with it
lets nuckel down stop arguing, no more i told you so and no more i know you told me so buts.....
lets catch or atleast try and bring down fabio or whatever his name is :T
ps i know it emanoal but is it .......0 -
I am really sorry to hear about peoples dealings with this bloke. I actually sold to him at the beginning of August. The address was confirmed by PayPal and it is the address that has already been circulated.
Ebay contacted me today to tell me that
"A member with whom you've recently transacted has been indefinitely suspended from eBay within 90 days of registration. We have removed any feedback they left for you or others. "
If I can help in any way give me a shout!

Can you confirm his name was emmanol eleftheropoulos ?
If so then we have a confirmed name and address then paypal must have sufficent information to pass on to the local fraud squad who will be dealing with this case. I trust someone who has been scammed has been in touch with the police, if not then may I suggest the sooner the better as this appears to be fraud on a large scale judging by the number of buggies he has sold. Im sure we all agree the quicker the CID get on this guys tail the better when the trail is still hot. Will paypal automatically inform the CID ? If I had been scammed I would be right on the phone to his local station in Uxbridge to register the complaint.0
