Anyway I'll give them a call and follow procedure. Its just the last time I had bother with a purchase on ebay I contacted the sellers local trading standards in Newcastle, got through to a trading standards officer who promptly put the seller out of business.

  • I think all that can be done is reporting it to paypal, ebay aswell as watchdog and maybe even the police?

Have you had any success in actually tracking the guy down yet and working out what his real name is? Does the business address check out when you search for it, does it look like a storage place or a street address when you check the postcode, actually working out who this guy is should be your first step, no one else will do it which is why I suggested setting up a user group somewhere so you can co ordinate who does what to track him.

if you had an easily contactable group of members then maybe two or three could go check out the address discreetly, I would NOT sugegst any vigilante operation or confrontation, just go and take a look as to whether it looks inhabited or not., take photos. You may have to do some leg work here. Start by having a simple Yahoo or google group with a moderator to keep an eye on the posts to ensure that it doesn't get silly, then share inormation and track this scum bag down.

Look at the excite thread, people actively sought that scammer and tracked him down and he is now in custody where he belongs.

I'm terrible at links, hopefully this is it:

The difference here though is that the scammer seemed less 'professional' and was tracked down through various names and addresses. I am concerned at the pram scammer as without a real name and address all the complaints in the world are not going to help..someone has to do some real work to find him.
