Got Sky + plus for free and installation free ,seems like they are starting to go down this route lately looking at the threads here, about time as well....
May I ask what extras you had to pay for (eg £10 multiroom, movie channels or sports channels)?
Thanks

After reading this thread i have been wanting to ring up and balg Sky+ for free but put it off as i was scared that i'd ring up and say "I want to cancel" and they would then cut me off:o
Finally plucked up courage and rang on Wednesday (using the freephone number on this thread of course;) )
I told the man that i initially wanted Sky plus but it was a silly price so i was cancelling sky and getting FreeView with the hard drive recorder.
He offered me Sky+ for £60 - i laughed and said "i'll have it if its free" - he said OK:D
still have to pay the £10 a month subscription as we did not have sky movies but actually upgraded to sky movies for £12 a month and now don't pay the subscription fee.
So for £2 a month extra i am getting Sky+ installed for free and get the full movie packages as well:jIt's not paranoia if they really are after you.0 -
New Customers - if you live in flats
I have just tried to get Sky+ online through Quidco, however, half way through the process I had to call Sky as I live in a block of flats with a communal dish. It now turns out that Sky cannot supply me wth Sky at all, and I have to call the building manager to have Sky installed (?) or contact a local Sky installer to install it for me. Does this sound right? As well as losing the £50 Quidco bonus, the agents can charge whatever they want for installation. Has anyone else experienced this or have any advice?
Many thanks!0 -

We just moved to a block of flats (rented) and that is correct. Unless a shared sky dish already exists you have to go for NTL Im afraid...Being bored is so boring Im bored of it... :rotfl:0 -
Thanks Babbler, there is a communal dish already, we just don't have a box. It seems strange that Sky won't give us a box and we have to go through a 3rd party - these usually only supply reconditioned boxes anyway.
I wonder if we get a box from ebay etc does this mean no installation is required, and we can just ask Sky for the subscription?0 -
Alitigger wrote:I just reduced my SKY package from £21.50/month to £9/month for SIX months ... (then I'll go for a Sky FreeSat card for £20, which gives Freeview plus a few extra freebies, and uses the existing dish & digibox, which is mine-for-free after the initial promo-period)
Pretty sure your card will become freesat anyway after you cancel. No need to fork out the 20 quid....0 -
Has anyone who *already has* Sky Plus phoned up threatening to cancel and got a decent discount offer?0

Phoned NTL and got family package for £9.95 for 6 months, change in my telephone package to get free calls at weekend then I asked is there an offer for broadband and he said you can have £9.99 for 6 months instead of 19.99 so for one phone call have halved our ntl bill. Thanks for the info on this.0

Hi,
just called NTL and gave them the same story as a lot of others on this forum, and it backfired big time!
They let me cancel!
What should i do now? Is it best to ring them back before the 30 days is up and say ive changed my mind or should i let them switch me off then ring them?
i dont know how these things work but I'm most worried about my email address, if they cut me off will i still be able to use this on reconnection?
ThanksThere's nothing wrong with me a little chocolate won't fix! Or sweets - not fussy really!0
