Been reading this thread for past couple of weeks with interest. I have been a very good customer of Sky for past 6/7 years, always paying for the top package, never complaining and always paying the increases when they come. After reading some of the things you guys and girls have been doing to reduce payments and obtain upgrades cheaper I wanted a piece of the action. Why not I thought.
This is what I got (It was intalled last Friday):
Sky + and Sky multiroom. I paid nothing for the box (saving £99, brand new and the lastest), nothing for installation (saving £69) and am paying nothing for the multiroom (saving £10 per month). I'm also making a saving of 25% of my monthly subscription for 12 months. In all I'm paying less for next 12 months for more!!
This is how i did it: I wondered what to say when I phoned. I wanted Sky + anyway and decided that I'd just be honest and see where it got me. I did a little research by looking at what deals the sky website offer and what has been said on this board and I asked to be put through to cancellations and told advisor that I had no intention of cancelling but lots of my friends had managed to wangle better deals by pleading poverty and threatening to go else where and I wanted 'value for money and rewarding for being a good customer! I knew that they would waive the multi-room fee as I subsribe to the top package and I actually told her what I wanted (by pinching the best bits that people have managed to get off here over past few weeks) and she agreed. I was very polite, honest in what I wanted and how much I wanted to pay for it. I also pointed out that I was a very good customer and had recommended lots of people in the past. She could see this by looking at my account. From reading various posts on this topic I think the deal you get often depends who you speak to.0 -

I think you are right and it also depends on your manner. Some people seem to think they are entitled to these discounts and get aggitated when they don't get them but they don't want to cancel.
Remember they are atthe discretion of the person you are speaking too. I often find a little candid humour helps you get what you want - they will more than likely offer you something if you are polite and if you don't get offereed somthing you want politely decline and continue to suggets you still wish to cancel.
These Sky CS people are still "people" and while SKY CS can leave a lot to be desired and can get you aggitated it always pays to be polite - Karma will get you there in the end!Fortune's always hiding, I've looked everywhere......0 -
Free multiroom every month ? I dont think so0

I phoned to cancel (managed to get through this time) and was offered 6 months at half-price, which I accepted, but only after being told that the Sky plus deals had now stopped! If they tell you that you can't really dispute it. I will try again in 6 months!"0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0

I think you've got a very good deal there, but for reference the multiroom charge and the sky+ function charge are 2 separate charges. The Sky+ charge (£10) will be waived due to the package you're subscribing to, but the multiroom charge is never waived or even discounted. This is also £10 per month and you're obliged to pay it for the next 12 months.
All in all though, a very good deal and the extra £10 is more than wiped out by the 25% discount on your primary subscription. You'll still be nearly £1 a month better off.0 -
I am already a long standing customer of SKY's. Have they got any offers on at the minute for recommending a new customer?
Friend of mine is after SKY+ but does not want to pay the installation fee!
If i remember correctly sky did run an offer for new customers recommended by existing customers?
Cheers
