  • Both times I've phoned sky, I've been polite and friendly.... I think it's a case of who you get through to.. I wondered if Location was an issue as well, perhaps if they've already given away Sky+ to a lot of people in my area then it's less likely they'll offer it to me
Anyway... decided to wait a few weeks til I try them again and see if the situation changes ( I think perhaps they might get a bit narky with me if I phone every day...lol)

I rang NTL saying I wasn't happy with what I was paying for my TV/Phone/Broadband package and told them I was thinking of leaving. They put me through to retentions ( they are obliged to do this if you mention leaving) where they are able to give more incentives than the usual sales people. Anyway, without any further conversation the nice man gave me £11 off my monthly bill for good because I take all three services and £9.75 a month off for 6 months for some other reason I'm not entirely sure about, but not worrying about! Anyway, that means a saving of £179.50 in the next 12 months! He also said when the £9.75 6 month offer ends to look on the website and see what other offers are on. He suggested anytime incentives are offered to new customers existing customers may be able to access them too if they ring up and ask! Marvellous - I'm well chuffed. Thanks for all the help from this website.
  • Hm just phoned Sky, threatened to cancel - they offered me 3 months half price, I declined it hoping for more, they didn't offer any more, and have gone ahead and started the 30 day notice period.

What now, how can I keep Sky going and get the 6 months half price deal?! Do I phone up to change my mind, wait a few days and then phone to cancel a second time?!

sit tight, and wait, you have 30 days anyway. ive done this before and after a week or 2, sky will call you back and offer you something good. if they dont (which i very much doubt) then just wait around 25 days call back and say you dont want to cancel anymore, you wont lose a thing.

as long as youve been with sky for a while (3 years +) they will try there best to keep you
  • Just rang up and said I was looking to cancel because I was going back to uni and was trying to cut down all my bills, I also mentioned that I had received a card through the door from NTL with a 6 months free offer for their tv package. I told cancellations that I didn't need the movies or the kids channels and the lady said she would offer me the Sports mix for £18.50 and no extra to pay for the sky + record facility, this would be for 5 months.

Fantastic deal! I didn't expect them to offer me any less than £25.00 per month. The lady said to call back up in 5 months to see if they could help me again once this deal comes to an end.

I've been with Sky for just over a year, na dphoned up today and said I was thinking about leaving as NTL was cheaper. They didn't offer me a sausage.

Do I need to proceed through to cancellations first?

    Hi Monstermind,
I've just agreed for an engineer to call on Thursday to fix faulty digibox approx 6 years old.
Are you saying it would be worth my while rejecting this and bartering for the free fix with 12 months guarantee, or are you saying this offer is no longer given, not quite sure which you meant.
    Thanks

    Thanks very much monstermind.
What does family pack mean, is that 2 Mix, Kids + Variety?

And are the offers you mention valid for reinstatements, ie before or after the actual date of cancellation; or are different ones available for reinstatement?

Hi, you can certainly call back to cancel, stating that you're not prepared to stay unless you can have new replacement equipment rather than a service call. This offer is still available.
