    Sorry, Jammin you are corect.
I meant that you should get all the cabling and dish replaced when they install the new HD system.
The installers we had for SKY+ didn't and we had to go through and threaten to cancel to get an engineer out to repair the dish after the 12 months had expired as they had left the old dish there. It was EASIER for the original engineers to do that (plus they probably told SKY they chaned everything).

On an installation or service call, Sky's installers are only required to replace dish / LNB / cabling if the any of those currently in place are defective.
  • Thx for the replies. So do they carry new dishes etc as standard or should I phone before the install date just to make sure ?

Ah OK, so should I need anything changing going from an old basic (non sky+) set up to HD ?

When I was upgraded (so to speak) they used the dish that was there, just replaced the LNB and cable. Nothing wrong with the old dish so no need to replace it.

I would try and get them to change the whole lot. A bit of sweet talking, tea, coffee etc might help.
If they put in a complete system for a new customer, why not for an existing one who is replacing or updating a system. If it doesn't belong to SKY and belongs to you ask for new cabling etc.
They do carry all the bits in the vans.

Because Sky does not require them to.

You do of course need new/additional cabling when going from Sky to Sky+ so that would be done anyway.

It's got to be worth a try to get all new equipment as it should be more reliable and last longer that way. After all you do end up paying SKY a lot of money to watch TV, as well as your TV licence to the BBC.
    Have a good weekend.

They just ran one extra cable for us on the original install.
Then 14 months later needed to replace dish. lnb and cables. The second engineer said it should have all been done with the new box being installed.
