Out of the blue I had a call from sky (to reward loyal 7 year customer)-offering upgrade from sky+ to sky HD - box and installation free, plus no HD subscription for 12 month. Free upgrade!!? anyone else had this - seems to good to be true.

We were offered 20% off our subscription for 6 months, and we have reduced some of our TV packages. By making this compromise we've reached the level we wanted to pay for our TV.
Incidentally I've called three times before and went through to the cancellations dept where I was offered nothing. Today, just fed up with trying, I went through to the change your TV package and discussed downgrading our TV. I said we were happy with Sky but just need to cut costs, and this is when we got this offer.0 -
I phoned sky today to cancel my TV package as the box is becoming sluggish when watching paused live tv. I was hoping they would offer me a nice shinny new HD box... Nope nothing just told me that i would lose my telephone line and broadband if i wished to cancel but did offer to send an engineer or transfer to technical help.
What is the best way to get a better offer?0 -

Just called sky due to having probs with Error code 25 - sat signal problem or something (twice in 2 days!!).... was offered £49 for box + £30 install with no £10 HD Pack or free box and £30 install with the £10 HD Pack.... said i would need a word with the wife... called back after about 10mins saying that we were cancelling our Sky... Guy at sky cancellations advised that he could get an engineer to check our system out fully and replace any faulty items for Free (waiving the £65 charge!!), said i had been thinking about going for HD before the problem started and this was possibly an option for me to get HD.... He advised that he could offer me free hd box, free install and no HD pack charge (not too bothered about HD pack as i dont think we will watch them at the moment....)
Was totally pleased with the offer and said yes, would now stay with SKY.
They are coming out on Sat PM to install and he said they would put a new dish, cabling etc when they come out..... cant wait.....

Thats the offer i wanted but no joy, kept offering to send an engineer out for free.0 -
The guy said i could have a service call for free, but i said that i wasnt prepared to wait in for more than a day for it to be solved (worst case scenario is that they would come out, test everything
and then say that the box is faulty and they replace the box, then a day or so later it does it again.
So have to wait in again for somebody to come and change the cable, then do it again, and they would then change dish/lnb...) told him i wasnt prepared to possibly have to wait in for 1/2/3 days for visits to solve the problem with the SKY+ box, and i was considering upgrade to SKY HD, he then just said we can offer the free hd box, free install - inc new cabling, dish etc and with or without the HD subscription charge, decided again paying £10 a month at the min, just get the free HD channels and see what its like 6 months or so... im currently on 6 months half price discount which ends in Aug 10.... Could be worth ringing back, asking straight for cancellation department - i just advised that i was looking at leaving because of problem with SKY+ box and the women put me straight thru....0 -
I've had sky hd for just over a year now but no longer want the hd channels, does anyone know if I have to still pay the £10 a month?0

If you don't have a HD TV can you still have a HD+ box? I don't even have a Sky+ box at the moment but feel that if I call them up for one all the offers are going to be on a HD box, which is of no use to me.0
