Would welcome some advice please. We currently have Sky and want to move the tv from this room into another room which does not have a TV point. Do we have to use the Sky to put in a connection to the dish or can we use another company? Are there any disadvantages to someone else which is our preference?
Sorry if this is in the wrong place.
Thank you0 -
I cancelled my sky package in April and have been on free to air since, I called sky to ask if they had any offers for me to come back and have just been offered any package half price for a year, with a rolling month contract, IE I can cancel it with only a months notice.
You never know until you ask I guess0 -

Just buy some satelite cable and some connectors and put in a connection from the point it would enter your sky box and run the cable to the next room into the new box. It's just like and extention cable for the electric. Make sure that you strip and join th cable correctly and screw in the connectors and it will be okay. My OH is always changing the location of the TV and I find this easy to do ! try maplin or Screwfix for the cable and connectors.
Don't pay for a company to move it, save money and do it yourself :j0 -

Has anyone accepted the offer of an HD sky box but not had the £10pm subscription and just used it as a normal box? Come the day of the revolution when Sky tv is free you'll be streets ahead.Do not allow the risk of failure to stop you trying!0 -
You just make an extra length of statelite cable and extend the run from the original cable using male and female connectors. You just need to make sure you have the cable stripped and inserted into the connectors the correct way otherwise the signal is lost.
Google came up with this page that might help explain it better

Hope this helps, hunt around though for best deal on parts and cable etc0 -
sorry, link removed from above post
search Google for "connectng and extending satellite cables" and you will find exactly how to do it....0 -
Just saved 8,20 per month with sky when asking them if there were any deals going as having to re-vamp finances - especially with the VAT rate going back up - got 20% discount for six months! worth a try!Every days a School day!0

WE stopped paying for Sky over a year ago, but are still able to recieve some channels, however a message came on screen last week to say our card had expired but it still works.....but the regional news has switched to Central instead of Granada, it seems strange that we can view a regional channel but not our own, has anyone else had this problem? We contacted SKY and they said we had to purchase a new card for £20.:rolleyes:0

Thanks Suzybloo - I have just called up and firstly I asked to go down to the base package £23 a month (so no movies or sports) the guy seemed happy to do that (Sky must be feeling the pinch too!)
Then I asked if before he did that, did they have any offers on? He came back with the 20% for 3 months which means my payment goes down from 48.5 to 38.8. I will downgrade fully when thats up, but I suppose I'll be wanting the movies and sport for a few extra months in the winter
I've just realise I only got 3 months doh! Also I am tied in for a month, so no further changes to my package, which is a bit odd.0
