    Hi
Just phoned Sky to cancel my subscription because I wanted Sky+ since our area is going digital very soon. On web site it says it will cost me approx £200 to get a box and for installation. I decided to go with VM and their V+HD box instead.
Anyway, I got offered Sky+ for £44 all in!!! So naturally I accepted his offer. Dont know if its an HD box or not, but who cares, I've saved approx £160

    Sky+HD boxes are currently free + £30 install. If you've paid £44 for a Sky+ box you've been had.
  • Anyway I can get money off my sports mix? Would free up some money which I can then get the movies with...

Not really cos Sky+ has no monthly charge, whereas HD is £10 extra per month for not alot really !

just got off the phone to sky. Our old box has packed up and I refuse to pay £65 for an engineer so I spoke to cancellations.
got a load a speil about being a valued customer as been with them for 10 years and they'd see what they could do.
offered Sky+ for £29 with free installation - said that's all she could do also said I'd have to pay £25 for a non-standard installation cause we don't have a land line. told her I'd phone back after speaking to virgin (already have broadband with them).

I think that wasn't a bad offer...i just called em again and they won't budge on £29 + £30 install so £59 for me for normal Sky+ !

the £29 was for a re-conditioned box, not a new one but with the extra £25 it was £54 and they wouldn't budge. been with them for 10 years too.
phoned back today and cancelled told them all I wanted was the box I have repaired, not interested in sky+. they said I wasn't eligible for a free repair so told them to put the cancellation through. Have tried another sky box and that's broken too, exactly the same - going into standby and not doing anything else.

You can pick up a standard SKY Box on EBay for less than £29, including P & P charge. Have a look if you still want Sky. But if you are getting BB from Virgin you should be able to get a better deal from them to receive SKy channels.

We have sky +, multiroom, a pretty basic package (don't have sports or movies, do have kids channels..), we also have our broadband (which has been excellent) line rental and an unlimited phone package with Sky. Cost £42 last month (think there were a few calls not covered on our package - mil lives abroad etc).

We'd quite like to upgrade to the sky+ HD and relocate the current sky + box to the kids playroom, does anyone know the likely additional cost to do this and if we might be able to get a good offer so the monthly cost is not too much higher? Thankyou.

If you want to cancel, Sky don't currently give discounts on subs. They just offer to reduce your sub.
