There is an offer on at the moment that if you say you are thinking of downgrading you can get 20% for 6 months.
  • Answers to some of your questions:-
1: Yes you can record off your sky+ hard drive. The only downside is that you have to watch (or play the programme at the same time as you record it). What you have to do is connect a DVD recorder to your sky box, using a quality SCART cable (think Monster or Ixos preferably). You use the VCR out socket on the back of the sky+ or sky HD+ box to connect to the input SCART socket on the DVD recorder. Whilst doing all this, it is impossible to watch another sky programme. N.B. with a dvd recorder, of course if you record an HD programme onto dvd, it will turn out standard definition, as dvd is standard def. The only way to copy HD programmes to HD optical format, is get a bluray recorder (too expensive just yet really).
    5. If you have had a sky box for "a number of years", you must make sure that it's a digital box, and not an alalogue box! If it's a digital box, sure , it will work fine. Without a card, you get London BBc1 and London ITV, no channel 4 or channel 5. So you get a freesat card for £20 from sky....this regionalises BBC and ITV, and gives you channel 4 and 5.
Oh regarding your freeview problems....you need a new digital compatible aerial. I myself do not use an aerial, just Sky HD. I use a Creative 700w R.M.S. Dolby Digital 7.1 sound system, with amplifier and decoder, and it works fine.
  • Hi

I have a Sky+ box on my main tv in the living room and I have a digi sender (wireless) that sends the signal to the tv in our main bedroom. Signal is brilliant, only have problems if son has his x-box plugged in then it interferes. Just have to make sure that x-box is unplugged. Great for making sure he's not on the x-box when he's supposed to be sleeping, it shows on the tv straight away :-)

  • For Sky which number do you call so you don't get the indian call center they can't help at all with reducing the cost.
  • I currently subscribe to Sky+ with multiroom, but want to cancel and just get Freesat channels. (I would save about £600 per annum) I understand I can use my Sky+ box for this after removing my Sky Card, BUT will I still be able to record programmes, rewind etc? I dont see why I shouldnt be able to, as I did originally pay for my Sky+ box and satellite dish, but have a feeling I can't. Does anyone out there know?

  • the recording ability of the sky+ box is locked out once you cancel the subscription

Is it advertised or just a verbal thing?
