Grrr really really annoyed with Sky today.

Last month ordered HD and paid the £75 + £30 installation charge. They were supposed to install today but the guys turned up with a work order to fix a non-existent fault with our regular box. Apparently they send through wrong work orders all the time but this the worst error the guy had seen. Phoned Sky and they say all they can do is rebook for 10 Jan 2009! Phoned back and spoke to someone else to complain - this woman showed no interest at all and didn't even apologise to us for the inconvenience! After this we went through and cancelled the new box.

Not too bothered about the HD tbh, but really miffed about not having Sky+ for the Christmas programming. We have a small baby so often can't watch things when they're aired.

Have fired off an email via their website. Is there anything else I can do?

Not a great deal really, just email and write a letter, maybe you'll get some compensation. Other than that, I'd just chill out and not let it worry you or get you down, life is too short after-all, just enjoy being with your wee one.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!
(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)

Well, I got the £49 SKY+ deal, but wanted sky broadband and the phone. Phone line has been taken over but not the calls, so cant ring out! Phoned last week, on mobile but not using 0870 number. They were apologetic but no idea why I hadnt been notified of delay, all supposed to be ready today- still can't call out- so cant phone to complain!
Not a happy bunny! Still, at least my SKY + is working!
  • I have recently received a mailout from Sky offering me and a (currently non-subscribing) friend a free Sky+ box each if I get them to sign up to Sky. Predictably all of my mates have Sky already so I thought I would come friend hunting on here! Basically the deal is a non Sky customer has to sign up to any package (starts at £17 a month) before 12th December quoting my details.
So if anyone doesn't have Sky but wants it, and thinks this is a reasonable offer, please let me know. Worth a go at a time of year when Sky seem reluctant to give much away. I should comment that the leaflet lists a price for standard set up of £30 for the new customer.
Also, if this post should be on a different part of the forum, please let me know and accept my apologies!

Got my new 49 quid HD fitted at 9:30 this morning. Bloke says give it between 2 minutes and 4 hours to become active. Rang a nice Indian lady at 4 this afternoon and asked her why it wasn't working (after one half hour wait to be cut off then another 20 minutes to get through). Took all my details and told me she had sorted it.
Got home with wife (was a surprise for her as she likes watching the box) still not working so rang a nice Indian man who asked me if I'd had a nice weekend after going through the security checks. He then asked me to go through the services as had his lady friend earlier. Bloke had amazing eyesight as he then stated he could see my HD Box. "so can I' I said but it isn't working. There's a problem with the software and it should be working in 48 hours he told me. No way says I so he then promised me it would be 2 minutes to 4 hours.

Diana Ross still rules Supreme.............I'm still waiting.

    They are truly useless.

Just had another hour long conversation (after being cut off first time) with nice Indian man number 3. Went through all the same krap as usual then he gave me the 48 hour quote. The fact that they promised to connect me today is of no relevance but he has kindly made a note that they will not charge me for my HD subscription for two days. Anyway I've been getting peed off so I asked to speak to his supervisor. Nice Indian man number 4 picks up after being on hold for a while by know I've decided this is my last port of call as the Indian nation is extremely large and I simply don't have the time to talk to all of them.
Anyway he starts telling me the it's not working because of ........which even taking into account my senility I've picked up on. Gives me the 48 hour quote so I ask him how can they charge me for an installation that hasn't taken place.
No compensation he says they have no power to refund my EUROS. I gave him the heads up that I haven't got any Euros so he apologised and told me he could see I lived in the UK and he meant DOLLARS..........sorry pounds. I've told him I'll talk to the Jocks tomorrow. Told me I'll get no joy as they all work to the same crib sheet.
God I could write a book..............sorry I have done.:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
  • lol, i had hours of problems when ours was installed we couldn't record anything, if we did it crashed the whole box, after 4 hours of being on the phone to said indians, i found myself rewiring the box, and for him to tell me my sky was not working as i was on the phone and should end the call................ i told him, that was stupid i was on the phone to him!!!

he agreed to send out an engineer, engineer came the next day and had to rewire the whole lot because the cables were split and round the wrong way on the satelite, he said it was one of the worst fixings he had seen he was a lovely english bloke, bloke that fitted it moody polish bloke - nuff said

I'm not impressed by the racist comments made by the last couple of posters on this thread.
