Got Sky+ put in for nothing last week. I also got £5 a month of my subscription to multiroom for the next 6 months (we have the sky in the kids playroom)

When the sky man was here I offered him £20 to put the old sky box from the living room upstairs in the bedroom and run the cable. So I now have all the sky freeview channels in there too. Am well happy now.
    Total 2019: £3972 - Best win this year £3000
    2018 total £4062/2017 total £2260/ 2016 total £2025/ 2015 total £3809.

i got my sky + box and installation a few weeks ago - im really happy with its not because it was free but what it can do, all my mates had sky + but it didnt really interest me until i read on this forum and decided to give it a go and phone sky.
i told my anunt and she called up but she had no luck she was asked to pay for the installation, reason as far as i know they was not offering this anymore.

    Hi every1 ,
basically got sky + installed last week,
got the box for free but had to pay 30 quid,
however im not happy with the service,
my broadband is still not set up and sky + sometimes stops starts and then doesnt turn on for 10 mins,

also the fact that i am gonna get new hdtv in a months time
was wondering how far i could ride my luck and get a free sky hd box,

im gonna threaten to cancel due to bad service, bad equipment, and the fact that virgin offerring me better deal with free V+ box, and free installation.

How low do u think they will go ?
    Thanks

they will probably send someone round to give you a new sky+ box but dont expect any offers on HD been trying for week and no luck but it cant be long before they do or they will loose customers. I even told them that I could get it from virgin for free but no luck either cancelled in the end but went back when they offered me 2 months viewing whilst I decided whether to go to freesat or virgin.
  • I know someone who got Sky+ last week for £19.99.
Don't know how this figure was reached but still a good price for Sky+.

I've noticed that Quidco cashback for Virgin Media packages/bundles has increased from £65 to £100, which is very tempting. Plus there is £10 off each product you take if taken out online on Virgin Media's website. So potentially £140 on offer.

However, I am torn between the cashback online and phoning them up to see if I could get money off that way:confused::confused:
Can I take it out online, wait for the cashback and then phone them up and say I am looking at Sky and can they do anything about my current package?
Anyone know what 'package/bundle' mean - two or more products????

Also, I think they are competing with Sky basic £16
    -phone
    -broadband 2mb
    -TV - basic
(about £27 month if you take into account the BT phone line rental)

    Virgin Media are offering:
    - phone
    - Broadband - Large - 4mb (upgrading to 10mb)
    - TV - Medium - basic package, about the same as freeview
    £27 month

If you can find an existing Sky customer who can recommend you to sky then you can get sky+ for free and they get £50. Apparently it's an offer running until 16 June.

I wasn't sure whether to go with Sky or talk talk.

Am currently on Karoo at £18 ish a month for broadband
plus the (just under) £10 a month kc rental
plus calls on top. (no free weekend or eve calls! so high bill).
So £28 (plus last high bill was calls of say £23 a month! oops). total £51 a month.

I guess sky plus makes it £27 a month (inclusive of line rental to bt but free calls?).And no extras except £30 installation.

But talk talk is about £13.75 (first 3 months~£10.50 is rental & £3.25 talk global eve and weekend calls) then up to £16.99 after (inclusive of line rental to talk talk).this is free eve and weekend calls.

Haven't got freeview yet, so hope there is not hidden cost of installing an aerial for freeview. But think its bye bye to sky for now. (or the next 18 months!).

(p.s. luckily I am not in the catchment area for the exclusive Kingston Communications/karoo and only went to KC and Karoo due to being impatient for broadband at the time and there being no available broadband on my then bt line).

All sympathy to Hull and surrounding areas who have no choice of cheaper deals due having no choice on offer to them!!! It's about time that was changed!!

I could be wrong, but I think I have heard that Talk Talk have really bad customer service - just something to consider, I know you don't have that many options.

Anyone else considering the Virgin Media deal I posted above?

I know some of you won't like this, but when I went through Virgin Media's channel listings, I decided that there wasn't much more than I currently get Free on Freeview (eg Animal Planet, Bravo, 6x Discovery, Lots music, 10x UKTV were the only extra channels). I don't think it was many more on Sky, without paying extra.

I know this is a Digital TV thread, but for me personally, after consideration, I don't think I can justify such a large spend (each package is at least several hundred pounds a year minimum). I would rather spend the money on a budget holiday, but that's the moneysaver in me!
