Digital TV Cost Cutting Article - Discuss What You've Been Offered

I told sky where to go in February as they would not give me Sky+ for free; I want an HD box anyway, so i am waiting for the BBC Freesat HD recorder's to ship in the next few months.
Today i got a card from sky stating Sky+ for free with a £50 installation charge. I am sure that by arguing the point that their is already a dish fitted, so it just needs the double LNB and extra cable, it would be possible to get the fee waived.
The reference for this offer is LOVE SKY+ D - two digits are required after the letter D.
Might be worth trying this yourself......0 -

Any two digits?
I've just called and been told that they got an email Monday lunchtime saying they couldn't offer any more Sky + for free or for £49 as the subscription targets have been met.
He suggested trying again in a few weeks or months.
Anybody else had joy since then?0 -

We have 3 boxes in the house and also phone line. I have decided to get their broadband as ours (AOL) is too expensive.
They have offered the lowest they can do is £54.60 a month
This s for 3 boxes
XL packge (not including sports/movies)
Phone line
Broadband 2md deal
Not sure if this a good deal only decreasing my monthly bill by a few pounds (although gaining by getting rid of aol).
Am sure i should have got more off but like to know wother peoples thoughts!
Thanks in advance

Well I have had my wrangles with Virgin in the past especially when they lost Sky1 I had to write to the Cheif Exec office to get what had been agreed.
Anyway just re-negotiated my package for £56 pm
V+ Box ( with TV-XL & SkySports )
Phone ( Free evenings & weekends )
BB ( Large 4mb increasing to 10mb soon )
Additional Std Box ( with TV-XL & SkySports )
Also had to pay a ( one off ) £75 convertion fee but managed to get a free Broadband Wireless router out of them.
Not a great deal but ok ........ seeing as I was going to purchase a wireless router anyway that off-sets a large part of the £75 fee.
I do like the Virgin on demand stuff & the Broadband has been second to none so I am fairly happy.
Hope this helps0 -

Very nice man just left after installing our FREE SKY+ and he had to replace the dish and relocate the new one for a better signal, and he left me some phone cable to plug in...;) all for two cups of tea!!!0 -
I've had sky for many years and I want to reduce my subscription, I want to cancel skysports until September because I think there is nothing on in the summer worth paying the extra for. What will they offer me and do I have to pay a reconnection of skysports when I upgrade in September. Already have sky+.
Thanks
Just got off the phone to Sky, wanted to cancel sports and movies. Got it reduced from £45 down to £30 for 3 months without even asking. Told them I needed to cut costs down due to everything going up, Petrol, utilities, food etc.
Don't tell them its because footy season has finished.0 -
Dudes,
The W/E I am going to help the folks get Sky for the first time.
They like the look of the Sky+ Box and have selected one of the £16 mixes.
They want to have phone and broadband with them too.
Realistically what is the best kind of deal I can pitch for when I ring up Sky for them?
For example - free installation - a trial of Sky Sports etc??
Any help or anecdotes most welcome.
Duder
PS My folks have just retired - ironic this is the first time they can afford Sky - they need your help0 -

HHmmm
i think i may have to go back to them as it does not seem that i have been given a good deal. I did try for sky sports/movies but that was a no go, but i think i will at least try for larger broadband at least.
I have been with them for such a long time you would think they would give a better discount.
Will let you know how i get on!!
Thanks0
