    Hi Guys,
I'm still in the market for a HD sky box - anyone got any tips on getting one cheaper than £199 + installation. I dont think they will part with these as easy as the sky+ boxes.
A bargain is something you don't need at a price you can't resist.

tried for the last few weeks but no joy, except they reduced the price from £309 to £199, they still want £10 per month for the HD service as well. Told them that virgin would do it for free or I could buy freesat and they still wouldnt budge. Cant be long before they have to at least remove the £10 fee or they wont be competitive.

I cancelled and then wrote to Mr Murdoc and still got no where on the HD price, said what would you offer me to stay until I see what you will do once freesat has been around for a few months and they gave me 2 months free viewing.

I recently called sky and after some bartering managed to get a price of £200 for the HD box and installation. I still think this is too much. Has anyone been able to get it cheaper and if so how?

My digibox was on the blink . called Sky Techncial and they advised I needed a £65 engineer which I refused.

Called back and selected cancellations: told the very nice man: "I been a full service £45 a month customer for 7 years. Not happy with 65 charge - what could he do for me as I really didnt want to cancel but I would need to think about alternatives like Freesat."

He said" Yes you are a good customer and have acrrued lots of discounts (yeah right) - so I can offer you either a free engineer, or Sky+ fitted free next week. And I will put £20 credit on your account for your trouble"

Gosh - it was a tricky decision........ took me all of 3 seconds.

This was on Weds evening about 8 pm.:rotfl:

I've never had Sky before - I've been happy enough with freeview. My friend has sky+ and is really happy with it - so was tempted for a while. I hestitated too long when it £100 cashback on quidco -(glad now though!)

I phoned up today and got free sky+ box but £30 installation

and free calls in the day for 6 months going up to £5 per month after that but can cancel as it's not tied to a set amount of months.

Got a basic package but will consider the sports package when the football starts again as my son is starting to want to watch it now.

    I can't wait.

That's what he's saying this forum is for short term grabbit deals only not requests asking where you can get something cheaper etc:)
